M type lathe help

How do! I'm having a bit of trouble trying to work something out regarding my myford m type, I'd like to get the screw cutting/auto feed working, but I appear to be missing a part, or have the wrong lead screw, I've sourced all the back gears and posts spacers etc, and the drive engagement unit is present, but the bit that actually attaches to the other end of the clutch the gear side not the screw side is missing, can anyone help shed some light on what I should need/need to make

Just had a look at the (much less tidy) one I have here. The shaft that you have circled should extend inward and have a pin sticking out to engage with the leadscrew clutch.

The clutch itself looks like this:

The groove in the centre is what allows it to be slid left and right to engage/disengage. The short slot either picks up or misses the the pin on the shaft in the previous picture. The long slot stays in engagement with a similar pin in the end of the leadscrew. The part shown also acts as a bearing for the short shaft and the headstock end of the leadscrew.

I've got all the upper parts it's the lower drive bit that I don't, the shaft I've circled yellow

thats the exact bit i need! The clutch assy is present and correct, just that shaft, don't suppose you could get some measurements or a photo of just that part could you please!

This is the part itself.

I think it's in three bits: main shaft section, thicker section that looks to be pinned in place and the the cross pin to engage the clutch.

I can send you on more and better photos tomorrow and try and take some measurements. There's also the possibility that there is a drawing out there somewhere. There was a very good yahoo group for m type lathes but I'm not sure where they are now since yahoo groups is no more.

Drummond Brothers built lathes in England between 1902 and 1942, when Myford took over the company under wartime conditions. Despite the age of these lathes, a surprising number of them are still in use. This group is for Drummond (all types) and Myford M Type lathe owners to share photos...

They're a better reference I'd say than taking measurements off the fairly tired machine I have, but let me know if there's any dimensions you need.

I know it makes little sense, but I have a hankering for one of these lathes, just waiting for one to pop up locally at the right price, with most of the gears and cover.
