Workshop metal door lock

Hi all, I'm after some advice Re: workshop door lock options. I'm moving to a farm barn unit where the personnel door within the big sliding doors has a single Yale lock. I'd like to add something else to deter people.
I could quite inexpensively weld on a container style lock box, but this kinda shouts "expensive items inside" to anyone driving past.
What would be high security options that aren't so visually obvious?
The door frame is 40mm box. If there's a simple system then I guess I could fit it myself, or if these things are better done by locksmiths, I might just hire someone more experienced & swallow the cost.

Add a couple of mortice locks top and bottom? Should be easy enough to weld up some sort of bracketry to hold them, you really want some sort of lock shield/box. Then you will only have a couple of small discrete keyholes on the outside.
I'm only suggesting two to provide reinforcement to the top and bottom, but you could just stick one on to supplement the Yale.

Another option would be to build some sort of bolt mechanism.

It’s for a sliding door but the hook folds back 180 degrees so will work with a conventional door.

Seen a couple of attacks where they ran a disc cutter down the hinge line, on our site doors we put a couple of Hardened steel pins they are loose in a tube welded to door, so when a disc hits them they rotate, they fit into the surrounding frame as door shuts

I fitted a couple of mortice locks to the rear of the from on mine, let into suitable lengths of rectangular hollow section - keys needed extending to reach with a suitable bit of bundy tube.

these seem pretty good in addition to the standard lock
Fixed on the inside two holes in the outside of the door I fitted small bits of plate to make cutting them impossible.

OP may be better to look at an intruder alarm system with alerting function for peace of mind.

If I was a thief I would use a hole saw on a drill then reach in and unlock it, on another note the skin seems to be pop riveted on I’d weld it in a few places. For locks I’d also have a deadbolt that can’t be opened with a butter knife, however the best defence that I also use is a motion detector hooked up to a monitoring system or a loud siren/horn.

I made up a locking sliding bolt affair using a standard door lock for a barn door, I used 6mm plate and a 32mm bolt with a slot machined into it. Pretty sturdy.

My pedestrian door has 2 5 lever mortice locks in it. The door is 40mm box and 4 or 5mm sheet.

I've had good luck with this type.....I just buy the lock and make the fitting to suit each job.....
once the bracketry is made I use hard weld on the edges etc.....same as used on digger teeth.....almost imposs to cut with a grinder.....
no recall yet on the locks I've made.....
depends on door size and strength wether to use one or 2 locks...

i prefer yours but id swap the yale lock for a dead lock x2 top and bottom of the door

If I morticed out a hole in the box section & fitted a mortice lock like the red one shown at the top, how do I stop rain water getting through the keyhole & behind the sheet steel on the door face? If I'm right in thinking there'd be about a 10mm void either side of the mortice lock...?
I mean so the door doesn't rust from the inside out. Thank you

it all depends on the lock that you buy

if you buy a simple dead lock then you have to adjust around it to water proof the internal metal

this type of lock is the non snap lock used with double glazing doors so either its a slide bolt or a hook type lock though still roughly the same price
