TBH im not sure but last time i looked at it they were on copper and had a crackly line but they may be fibre now
If you give him the number it looks as if @qwakers may be able to tell you?

We are on Plusnet (part of the BT group as far as I know) I texted them 'help' about an intermittent fault, they tested the line remotely, found a fault and arranged for a visit the following day, all within half an hour. No mention of a charge? ended up changing the router

Ok so popped round today to check the setup is on copper and this is the only socket
I bought my trusty ex BT test phone to check the line and sounded clear last time i visited when they were having issues it was clearly a line fault as crackly
When i turned up it was working but light on router was Pink and @qwakers pretty sure this means it running of the 3g dongle as cant connect on the broadband line
this is the setup which is right next to the socket , its a BT business hub i dont know much about them
But on further questioning and having noticed there was a phone plugged into the ethernet port she said the company that looks after there IT recommended they switch to 3CX as the line provider instead of BT to save money , now it turns out they switched over late July and thats when the issues started to occur . They tried contacting the IT company who recommended 3CX but they are very unhelpful now
I said she needs to contact 3CX directly as it seems they may have not switched over properly and the broadband may not be on that line now , she needs to get confirmation from them before contacting BT as they will charge now that a third party supplies the line.
Has anyone heard of 3CX ? i work for a major player in the IT industry but never heard of them

Looks like basically they are a Voip phone provider that is a cloud based phone system for small businesses , like everything sounds great until you have internet issues then it doesnt work

Our internet is dire anyway, 1.5 meg if you are lucky. In the mornings it even more hopeless, but I suspect someone up the lane is homeworking, so thats down to the connection ratio, but we have had intermittent service for the last couple of weeks.
When I rang the provider, I was told that from September the whatever, Openreach are not going to be maintaining the copper lines any more, so we should be switching to fibre, AND she said brightly, we can offer that for only £4 more a month.
"But we do not have fibre here"
"According the the Openreach website, you do"
" Well its incorrect. We do not have fibre here"
"We can come and connect you"
"Are you going to run the lines down the road then ?"
"No, its already there"
"No it isn't"
"How do you know?"
"The pole is in our front garden, and no one has touched it for at least ten years"
"You might not have seen them install it"
And so it went on, FFS.
So anyway, back to reality, does this mean they are NOT going to maintain the copper lines until fibre is installed ??? I can't see how they could get away with that. There are too many people who will be relying on it, surely ?

I am with plusnet and have been for about 4 years, with no problems. When it comes to contract renewal i ring the company with a Leeds call centre and agree a new contract. I tortured myself to save a couple of quid a month with Talk Talk for about 10 years. There would be regular faults and slow speeds which they would say was my gear and spend ages trying to sort it out. Their call centre in India was someone with a script. How this company is still in business is beyond me!

A rep from a fibre supplier called last week and she said 2025 and copper wires would be turned off by government decree, but that is unlikely because some safety pendants only work with the wired technology.

In such cases they provide adapters to convert it to VoIP. The only issue is they won't work in a power cut, but then I believe ups's are an option.

That's what I keep hearing, but that date sounds like pie in the sky to me. We have fibre here out in the sticks for about ten years now, but the install has been very patchy. My mate half a mile up the road can't get it, stuck on a ratty slow ADSL line and his ISP (BT) won't provide a date for upgrading.

And call alarm systems are officially not compatible with any form of digital voice( And digital voice adapters are specifically forbidden from being used to supply them) and the customers that have them are advised to call their call alarm company and get an upgrade at unit that works over 4g.

Oh OK. Getting everybody onto fibre by the end of next year did sound like a bit of a tall order. BT's own website now says 2027 to move everybody over to VoIP, for what it's worth.
