My friend called she runs a small business and has several laptops running of a BT hub for the last two weeks has been dropping out intermittently to the point she has to hotspot from her Iphone to work . The hub flashes pink when the problem occurs but sometimes purple , she rang BT and there said the would test the line and found 'inconstancies' and that there was broadband issues reported in the area and they would send out an engineer ... great . But in the next breath he said if the engineer turned up and had a look but found no problem there would be a £280 charge !! its an intermittent problem so shes really worried it will fine when he turns up
25 years ago I worked for BT so i got the phone call but i got rid of them about the same time too. A bit of googling points to it being a line issue but cant find anything really useful to move forwards
Has anyone on here had the same problem or similar ? I can understand in some ways a charge for a wasted visit but £280 seems steep and they have almost admitted there is an issue in the area
This is why i dont have anything to do with them anymore except my pension
