rage 4

chop saw.??
I had a rage 2 chop saw and that was a huge ****** and very noisy.
infact the noise could be heard in my house with all the doors closed so my wife said.
is the rage 4 a lot quieter?I know its a daft question but!
I have a little woodmans chop saw by machine mart.
that is a little noisy but my wife could not hear it so if the rage 4 is the same then good.
I want to cut small tubings as little as 1/2" long and its a little akward to grind both ends.
just checked on the evo webb page
rage 4 noise under load is 100.8 dB(A)
rage 2 .. .. .. .. 112.4dB(A)
is that a big difference?

As I recall decibel is a logarithmic scale so adding one decibel is a factor of 10 increase. Therefore 100 to 112 is a lot of noise difference.

IIRC every 3db increase doubles the sound level

Whilst there is a big difference between them you are still going to hear the quieter one inside.

deci - divided in 10ths.

+10db is twice as loud.
+3db is twice the power.

so the 4 should be half as loud but 100db is still quite loud.

Her's a few you missed
Saturn V at 5-1/4 miles from the launch site 91dB
Titan was 94dB at the same distance, so it was twice as loud!!!
Saturn five at some place on the launch pad was over 200!
Fueler around 160dB
Bikini Atoll bomb 270db!!!
