RM home collection - fail!

For some months now I have been using the RM collection service. It works quite well in that you book the item on and leave it in a safe place and when your postie is delivering mail they also collect and scan your parcel(s) going out.

I have had some strange events with this but last Monday there was nothing. No post, no collection and no updates on it until later that night an email came through to say it was missed or something along those lines but no real explanation.

I have a parcel sitting out today and the post would normally have been here by now but nothing as of yet. I was driving up the town and noted no posties around at all. They normally are walking around now and their carts sitting around tethered to lamp posts.

Do other members use this service and how reliable to you find it? Are posties not working every day now as I haven't seen anything like that in the news unless I missed it.

Yes, I use it and have found it to be very good, sometimes collections from home other times at work, always worked so far. But I guess the law of averages deems that it will go wrong at some point.

I don't know about parcel pick up. But for the last couple of weeks we've had mail deliveries on Sundays, (Nothing all week just a wedge of post on Sunday). So I'm guessing they're a few bods down round here and the others are trying to catch it up as overtime?

I've used it a couple times, they've turned up on time with a label to stick on the parcel.

I've used RM collection many times. The local post office actually moan if I drop off parcels as they say they lack storage, particularly on those occasions I have posted 10+ parcels in one go. The collection service is reliable. Never had a problem yet.

I have had good success mostly so far. The odd time I used to get an email around 8am saying the gates were closed but the collection was booked for later that day and the gates were also open so I think that is a rouse when they know they won't be here that day.

I could live with that as I at least know then it wont be picked up but this is a second Monday in a row now when there are no notifications and no collection so I'll take it to my local sorting office tomorrow (which only opens between 8 - 10am) and ask them does this mean they don't collect on Mondays now so no point in me leaving stuff sitting out all day!

Probably just nobody available to do it.
Blame the managers, not the posties or whoever is manning the callers office.
I had two weeks off recently, I heard my round didn't go out for 4 days on the trot.

It's my preferred method these days. Way more reliable than the other courier's subcontractors.

I've used it, no problems encountered. Maybe just a lot of postie's on holiday.

That’s the usual thing here too, if our regular postie is on leave, we get no delivery at all. Then, if he has been off for three days, he’s got four days delivery the first day back, poor sod…

I did have quite a few customers say they were glad I was back.
Sometimes you dread even taking your day off for fear that you'll come in the next day to 2 days' worth.

Why would Evri being taken over make us want to go on strike?

Yesterday was the same as before no collection and an email came through about 8pm to say it failed like post #1

Our sorting office opens at 8, or should I say if you go around back at 8.10 then they open up! They said I'm not the first to complain about this and they will raise it with IT.

So for now it seems like no reason why it's failing in my area

Our posties are on overload, lucky to get a few visits a week. Was chatting to ours and he reckons they are understaffed, they keep swapping the rounds about between staff which in itself causes problems.

Ah, sounds like it’s not showing up on the manifest, I’ve had that a few times. I just do an adhoc collection so the customer has a record of it being with us but obviously that can only happen if the customer lets me know. If there’s nothing listed and they have no mail then I don’t go there.

Because mine is mostly businesses on a big industrial estate someone can’t just be put on it, it takes at least 2 days to even learn the basic route, let alone all the finer points, like where their mail goes.
Residential is mostly pretty straightforward, the loops mostly start and finish at the same point, though local knowledge plays a big part too. Several times I’ve been put on an unfamiliar round and been struggling to find a house because I’ve missed a footpath or cut-through between two houses.

I have noticed that too. It used to be the same postie for years on end and he knew to stash my parcels in the "parcel tree" as it became known. My gates are normally closed but he knew to stash em where no one would see them.

But for the past couple of years it's been several different people random every day. All 100% I chat away to them very pleasant but noted its not one person anymore you get whoever.
