Leccy Gates Relay

Help!

FINALLY got my leccy gates working. Well the gate side on permanent power. Need to sort the low down brick lights and inside the gate, downlights, both that'll be on for just a short period whilst we park.

Italian kit, the manual throws some curve balls imo.

When the gate opens/ closes and only then, you get 24VAC on 11/12 and 24VDC on 12/13. As in 12 is common. I find that very odd, mixing AC and DC like that.

Or so the manual says...it's more like 18V on both. Hey ho. I've an amber flashing beacon on 12/13. Works fine.

So the gate trundles open, the beacon flashing, then stops and waits (for an adjustable time), before closing . Whilst stopped there's no voltage on 11/12 or 12/13.

Gate then closes and I get 24VAC output on 11/12 and 24VDC on 12/13. Gate shuts, outputs cease. Zero volts on 11/12 & 12/13.

What I want is as it opens, for a timer to come on and wait a predetermined time before switching off. As in the timer will keep a relay on for say 5 mins whilst you unload the car.

I've an old, salvaged IMO timer and a newer GEYA one.

I assume, with the GEYA I can supply it with a permanent 24VDC via 14/15 which is on all the time. I'm further assuming I can "signal" the relay via "S" with 24VDC from 13?

So trying to figure how it'll work. Gate opens, signals S, timer starts. Gate waits, timer still on according to how I set it up. Gate closes, timer still on. I wonder if every "S" trigger starts the timer again?

Are there no safety photocells? that would probably be the easiest circuit to interrupt to get a delay on closing

Yep, a high pair and low pair either side of the brick light. (Another two pairs to go inside later).

Not sure how that'd work mind. If the gate is closing and either beam broken then the gate reverses. If opening then breaking the beams does nothing.

The coach lanterns have a permanent live and just come on as required as in not on any form of timer.

What does the motor wiring connection look like 3 wires per leaf?
Can you use the gate opening to trigger the timer relay that way it will only trigger once.
If you use the 11/12/13 connections it will indeed trigger twice!

A labour of love. Built with my lad which was cool. One of the biggest issues was trialling the lime mortar mix to set the flints in

Low point was me laughing at my lad when he couldn't tack a bit of angle to the 4" box up the centre of the pillar. He had the last laugh as it was brass angle I'd dug out and cut in the failing light.....

It's a sliding gate...no leafs. 3 wires to the motor.

Can you get a meter on the pins 11 to 12, and 12 to 13 and confirm that you have ac and dc voltages , Im not a sparks but it seems strange to me to have
a common 0v that doubles as an ac neutral?

I've done so already.

I missed it initially but look at the manual. The "relais" side on 11 & 12 shows the AC symbol. On 12 & 13 it clearly says 24VDC. They could have at least put 24VAC for 11 &12.

I'll be honest I've never seen anything like it. I've come across dual control voltages we ith a common 0V but never this.

It looks to me like the photovoltaic circuit should be switching a 240vac relay, which then puts 24vdc onto pins 11 & 12, or 12 & 13??

Is the “ac” symbol denoting an AC supply, or showing that the lamp is flashing? I think the latter, though it is a bit confusing - there’s no other mention of ac other than the 230v mains.

You mean 14+15 I think?

That's a constant 24VDC output. Irrespective of whether the gates are moving or not.

I was thinking outside the box!
I take it that the gate motor is 24v?
I was suggesting using the connections to that as the trigger for the relay.

All the gates I fit are 24v even the motors,
Well handy if you have a power cut as batteries will open them still.

What make is the kit is it CAME?

That doesn’t tie up with the words which suggest 24vdc - but then it does refer to just “24V” in another bit, it seems quite odd why they would do that!!
