My grinders three phase, it's the only one I've ever used which doesn't slow down when given abuse.
I have a Creusen 8" straight and face wheel, 1100w 3phase running on a Allen-Bradley VFD, cost about £250 to put together out of ebay bargains, it's a massive upgrade over the 6" 250w clarke grinder I had, I can now grind HHS lathe tools without losing the will to live.

I agree with your suggestion. That's a decent looking grinder.
Worth asking the seller if the bearings sound good. You also need to bear in mind the wheel size as larger wheels (10"+) are much more pricey than for a regular "domestic" size grinder.
