If it unbolts and is part of the stressed suspension it needs to be replaced - if it part of main chassis of the car it can be plated.

I would expect siting in the press would have added to the problem, it looks to be at the front as opposed to directly under the ram. You seem to have gone past where I would expect maximum distortion from the welding to be so try siting the part directly under the ram.
For completeness of this thread, here are the 2 arms with the bearings now fully inserted. It’s been this long to find some spare time to have a go at them again!
They arms were heated in the oven, bearings in the freezer over night and blasted with pipe freezing spray before pressing in.
Still not the easiest job as the arm cannot sit perfectly square or central in the press due to its shape but they are in.

I find little bits of cardboard or thin bits of wood invaluable for jobs like that. If the bush is wide enough then it'll usually try and align itself (you only need to get it started) - then as it starts to go home the ply or cardboard takes up any deformities on the arm and keeps things straight. Metal on metal then the bush is usually the weaker item and starts buckling.
You can often just shove a thin spacer in just to keep things in line whilst it's starting to seat.

Iam so pleased you posted this. A mate recently asked me to repair the rear subframe on his mercedes w124 e280, a job I didn't really want so thanks.

You can weld it up - grind it back - shultz or underseal the whole subframe - and it will pass an MOT.
It just gotta look intact and like it not been welded up to pass.
