Pipe bead or similar thing for hose

Hi,

I made a diesel fuel pipe from OD 10mm / ID 9mm stainless pipe and I can't figure out how could I get some sort of bead done to it to hold hoses. I chose to use very thing tube just for the reason it would be easy to form the bead, but haven't yet come into any good solution. I tested on a piece of pipe, a tool that I made which does make flare, but that will definitely cut the rubber hose when inserted. Made also tool with internal chamfer and was hoping that it could bend the edge inwards after flaring, but it didn't work at all. Most likely it would need to be roll formed to work. Any suggestions, how to make beads to this or some other way of preventing the hose from slipping off? Or would hoses stay there with hose clamps (Norma Cobra) without beads when installed on low pressure side of diesel engine?

Soft solder a 10mm olive onto the end of the pipe.

You can buy bead forming machines to do this, they might not do such small pipe though.

8ob's idea is good. You could narrow down the olive to make it a steeper slope so it looks more like the rolled version.

You don't even need to run a bead all the way around.
A couple of small tacks/blobs then put the clip over the top of those so they press into the hose.

If it's a return hose and the pipe is a good fit I'd just use a clamp on it.
Plenty of diesels come from the factory with no beading and no clamps either!

I'd be tempted to buy that Graham bead roller, as man can never have enough of tools... However with all the freight and taxes, it would be too steep price for me. Fortunately I have some 10mm brass olives and tin-lead solder so I'll use them. This will not be on return side. It will be before the high pressure pump so there is pressure from the tank internal electric pump. I should have asked this before the fabrication as I'd then go with 1mm wall tube for much easier welding.. Thank you all for the good suggestions.

I made one, but it’s for bigger tube, aluminium coolant pipes.
I need to do a similar job on some 5/16” copper fuel pipe I’m using on the trike project. Not sure if my brake pipe swager tool will do the job.

My BMW motorcycle fuel pipes run at 30psi. They are just hard plastic, 8mm OD with no ridge or swage, the hoses just slip over the plastic and have a hose clip on. The only time I’ve had a leak is when the fuel pipe has been old and raggedy. With nice new hose there’s never a problem.

I ended up tack welding two blobs 180° apart from each other. Can't pull it off with reasonably force so should do the trick. I turned welding backing from solid brass to conduct the heat away and it worked great.
