Used to use Misco alot years ago, ebuyer have a few times, Comet don't seem to have the deals.
Most things I would buy online as I am a real cheap skate but something like this I will want to have a play with in person.
Been compairing the spec of that Packard Bell, seems alot more than everything in the same price bracked, also looking at that £50 trade in, got a spare laptop that is worthless if I tried to sell it but £50 for a trade in sounds tops in my book
Still tomorrow will tell, I will walk into the shop to check its all above board, they may tell me its Reserve online first, if so I will walk out reserve it and walk back in within a few moments, lol....

They plan to stop supporting XP SP3 08/04/14 so got a few years yet!
if i may offer my opinion...
Ive been playing with computers since i was about 8 (which is a mere 13 years ago)
Windows 7 is fantastic - it is different to XP, etc, but its different cos its better, not jus cos its different.
However... that packard bell laptop has windows 7 starter, which is pretty limited in bits to do.
Further, the netbook has no CD drive (cos it is a netbook) so consider buying an external DVD drive - not that expensive, but may take you budget over the cost of maybe a slightly more expensive option.
About 10 years ago packard bell were known for using poor quality components, i think this has been (mostly) rectified now.
Specs aren't everything - a 2 litre Kia is not going to perform as well as a 1.8 Audi.

a 2 litre kia, cheaper and under developed compared to an audi 1.8 which is better all round
so in that case specs are everything because the audi will out perform the kia you get what you pay for the audi is more expensive but is a better car
Do agree specs aint everything, probably more to the point like slapping a 2ltr in to a tanker. Ram, graphics, mobo and hard drives play their part.
Disagree with Win7 its pants same as Vista 32 and 64, nothing works even though ok in XP 64!
Fresh install on this 4 weeks ago, from the moment go incompatibility issues. Dont get an email proggy either so had to resort to Incredimail bought 6 years or more ago, that dont work either cant delete anything, hangs and continually crashes like Mozilla.
Loads of other probs hardware and software. Thats only in 32 bit as well.

You've missed my point. The Specs tend to be the key numbers quoted - in my example engine size. The cheapness means poorly developed, etc -

I bought 5 OFF of the Acer D250 that you mentioned earlier in the thread from Comet. Comet were the first to reduce them to £199.99 from £229.99 as they were priced everywhere else.
That D250 model has been superceeded now though by the D260, which is the reason I think they have been reduced.
I could only get 2 from the shop and the other 3 I had to order online and pay delivery
Also, have a look on my voucher codes, before you buy as you may well get a discount code to use to get some additional discount. I didnt get anything tho, was basically told take it or leave it........tell a lie, when I looked at buying them last week, they said that they would throw in a 4 sleeves (worth £13.99) for the purchase of 5 netbooks, but that was when they was priced at £229.99. I waited a few more days and noticed they had been reduced online to £199.99, so I am glad I waited.
Right BIG cufuffle today, my original laptop gave up the Ghost today,,,,,,No option but to get something.

Well I bought the cheaper E Machines Net/Note Book with Windows XP, took in an old laptop and got £50 off, total cost £139. Going to take a little getting used to with the keys but so far so good, need to transfer all my data now.
The Wife is having as laptop of the inlaws for Xmas so she will be getting Windows 7 full version, will then have time to play over the next few years.

Microsoft said that about Win2000 but the updates kept coming long after their proposed shutdown date.
Is that for when the wife comes in the room when you are on a dodgy website?
