this is so you remain local from what your saying i wouldnt advise going too far

My sisters got a Motability car, she basically gets a new one every couple of years. She doesn’t drive herself, her daughter is her official carer and she does the driving. And it’s all on welfare, she’s basically never worked and has been in a motorised chair for years. Her car has a hoist to lift the chair into the back.Have you looked at the Motability Scheme:

As above found a couple of cheaper ones but one has no MOT and he wants £2000!
Ah darn it,
There was one local advertised a few months back deceased estate sale.
Had 50k miles but was around £900.

I have some lengths of the unwin rail and a few assorted fittings if you end up needing them. Not the flush fit rails but like I used on my box trailer thread that I’m sure would do the trick.

Unfortunately anything decent , with the words "wheelchair accessible" will cost a packet .
The one we have was done by Lewis Reed . They're in your neck of the woods and have some pre-used ones , sit down before looking at the prices !
If you get the lwb , high top type with a lift you can move all sorts of kelter - Meybee even a motorcycle or two !

Peugeot Expert / Citroen Dispatch are a very commonly converted vehicle for wheelchair access. I saw lots for sale when I was looking for a van & they don't seem to hold their price as well. I briefly considered buying one as they have a built-in loading ramp but they don't have a great load area due to the wheel chair ramp gubbins.
An ex local authority one would be a good buy as its likely to have been serviced regularly. Don't buy the 1.6 HDI version, the engine can be problematic. £2k should buy you A 2009 era MK 2 one, it should be euro 4 emissions meaning the VED will be around £160 instead of £330 for the later euro 5 models.
Look into insurance before you go any further, something tells me that those converted vehicles can be expensive to insure!

I can only speak of my experience.
I lost my wife and my disabled daughter within weeks of each other, my wife totally unexpected, my daughter, her life was always going to be short but she was very much loved.
Aged around 11-12 she started not wanting to go out, it was her younger sister who cottoned on, time for Mum and I--a rethink as to her mobility needs and transport.
The issue really was the fuss of getting her in and out of her adapted, it started to stress her out, especially her wheelchair, she wanted out quick, with her sibling or friends.
To that end we purchased Peugeot Bipper, a car, van based, diesel with rear sliding doors, auto, thinking it would be easier to get her comfortable and in and out and it was, being auto anyone of us could drive it, small as it was, inside it was quite cavernous, with wheelchair and all.
The next thing was her out and about wheelchair, what she had was very heavy, cumbersome but necessary, most of the time but for a few hours out with her siblings or friends, something lightweight, could be slung in the car, or kids could handle without fuss.
Found a Norwegian company as I recall, who had rethought the design of wheelchairs and what made them heavy, what we purchased was an extremely strong, lightweight WC, hell it was light and slingable, daughter loved it, we all did to, so much easier.
The Bipper helped but her wheelchair made a huge difference.
Incidentally, the Bipper was the worst vehicle I ever purchased, 38,000 miles, gearbox, engine truly screwed, nice large wing mirrors tho'.

He just wants a short ride out, he would have to be hoisted in to a special chair we have for him then any two of us can get him in the vehicle and out.
Going to look again this weekend, its interesting how many issues people are having with certain cars
