PTO shaft lemon type, part needed, help needed to know what

Hi, I have inherited for the want of a better word a mower for the back of my compact tractor, the issue is someone has dumped half the PTO shaft, I spent last night trying to suss out what I need but, but then started to glaze over at the huge selection and options available, I will do more research but I thought I would ask the vast knowledge of this forum, photos of what I have, any pointers would be great,

The mower is a bit of a heath robertson affair but if it get my bit of grass swathed down I'll handle it with the other mower, I have been looking at compact flail or topper mowers, they command good money, with this sitting there its worth a short first.

these have a shear bolt at the implement end or you could choose a friction drive etc
choose the one that suits the tractor hp

Personally I would dump the bit you have and get a complete new shaft

That will be a walterscheid shaft. If the gearbox end is a standard 6 spline it will be cheaper to buy a complete new shaft.

I would buy another shaft. Get one with similar lemon profile and diameter from somewhere like agriline. 20 to 30hp rated at a guess.

Old rusty PTOs are a pain, and you're not just missing half a shaft, you're missing the guard. I would buy another shaft. Get one with similar lemon profile and diameter from somewhere like agriline. 20 to 30hp rated at a guess.

As has already been said, a complete new shaft is usually the cheapest option.

Just get one a similar dimension, and with suitable ends. For that style of mower, a basic shaft would probably do.
It won't have a huge flywheel effect like a big 6 ft single blade topper so no need for an overrun clutch, and I'd doubt a shear bolt/friction clutch would give much protection on a compact tractor. The tractor would probably stall before the shear bolt gave out, unless you really dumped the mower onto something very solid.

Thanks for the link and replies, taken on board and replacement shaft it is, I'll remove the half that is left and get the size as I think its smaller than 1 3/8", but I saw a saw a spacer on ebay which might take the gearbox up a size, I'll have a check of that to see.

Yes the mower is 3 small blades so no big flywheel effect, some iseki's did get an overrun clutch fitted in the backend but this one does not have that.

When I stumbled on ebay the various shafts types for sale per meter I thought that was the way to go, by time you buy the yokes it starts to all add up, seems cheaper now to buy another.

It would seem this might be trickier than first thought, shaft on gearbox 1", tractor 1 3/8" I cant find a combination to suit that.

For anything non-standard, you might have to either buy a shaft that uses identically sized UJs and swap the old end, or buy a new shaft that you can buy the correct end for and swap it.

However a quick look doesn't find any 1" ends, so finding a suitably sized shaft and swapping the old end is probably going to be the easier option.
I'd probably start with the Sparex catalogues to see if your existing shaft uses a common size UJ/cross - https://gb.sparex.com/cataloguelist/ (there's a dedicated Weasler PTO catalogue, but also at the very bottom there's a link to the PTO section of the main catalogue)

What size spline is that end going to?And how long does the whole assembly need to be?

540 spline standard size, 1 3/8" , got me on the last question, 2' would be long enough I would say any extra would be a bonus just incase.
