Was just gonna use 15mm mild steel and obviously woukd be 2 so a thickness of 30mm to pull through, I wouldn't know best grade of steel to use or where to go to start getting it from and ideally want to get some lazer cut to dave me some time

Wait which bit do you mean ? I wouldn't make the actual arm, im on about the links that go between the pulling arms and the puller itself. Or are you suggesting the links should be aswell.

I would not stress too much about that. They would be forged originally as much for cheapness in mass production (minimal work to make the net shape) as for the strength gains offered by the forging process.
It is the same for the links. If you make 1000 of them, forging makes sense. There is a good chance the bolt holes are punched, not drilled, making the production process cheap and material usage efficient.
With some care in drawing your profile (no sharp internal corners to create stress risers), you would get perfomance close to a forged item.
The most highly stressed part of the crossbar is the two bolts in shear. Compare the cross sectional area of them with the surrounding material of the cross bar. Hence, the 'good steel' comment is misunderstanding the mechanics (load path and cross-section through which that load is applied) of the device.

No sorry im not looking to make legs just the small links about 75mm with hole in either side thst link the leg to the body. However if someone did have a spare leg I've only got 2 not 3 which woukd be nice
