Found this at the back of a shelf in the garage - guessing it came from my dad, who was an auto mechanic.

No points or prizes from me for the lucky winner as I genuinely have no idea

Always use mine under drillpress much more control then with a hammer, put a soft aluminium plate under.

That said, it does look pretty much unused so perhaps he asked himself the same question!

Gasket fabrication, soft rivets for clamping stuff or making extra holes in a belt.
I use mine regularly.

Wad Punch set - very handy.
Used mine the other day to make some replacement neoprene washers for a tail light mount. Plenty of applications for automotive - less so for modern stuff where you are just swapping parts.

Try it with a thick card - you often use them with gasket paper to make things like waterpump or manifold gaskets.

The 11mm one and the 13mm one still have the punched piece inside them. The 6mm one may have been used to make the inner hole of the 11mm one. There is a (perhaps factory) burr on the 8mm one.

Back of the phone book was ideal, or serial boxes. Old marine charts make good gaskets too.

We had a rather expensive wad punch set on one ship I worked on, but it was totally ruined by one particular clown ‘engineer’ who used it to punch gaskets out on the steel bench worktop….

A piece of ply wood or similar is essential when you’re using it.
