Galv fever

This past week I spent days in a row welding galvanized angle to mild steel tube. I did have a respirator but evidently it wasn't very effective.
I have the typical fever symptoms, body aches, fever, chills but have a few odd ones as well. My gums are swollen and I have one mouth sore inside my cheek, jaw is kinda sore near lymph nodes. Anybody else experienced this or is it unrelated?

Hi, and welcome to the Forum.

That's certainly an unusual first post, but Galv Flu (one of many other names) is a well documented illness and can result in permanent damage.

It is always advisable to remove (by grinding or similar) any zinc around the weld area beforehand.

Most people have and have experienced them. Some (me for some reason) plagued with them for the first 50 years of life.

When Paramedics visit a lot of sick and injured people, who do they go to first? It isn't the ones bawling out in pain, it is the silent ones who are slipping away and need help.

Why don't you visit the doctor if you are feeling so bad? Maybe he could put your mind at rest.

Yeah man flu, or indeed anything that's described as 'terminal' is pretty scary.
I'm into week four of Whooping Cough, never had it as a child, I gather three babies have already died from it.
Very, very scary, particularly if you've got more summers behind you than ahead and you live alone.
I can understand the 'whoop' between coughing, desperate to draw breath.
There's been a plus though, I've lost 6lbs in weight, so not all bad.
