Beedroom door locks

Right quick question.
New tennants in my flat would like locks on the bedroom doors.
I was going to drill and chisle out for lever mortice locks but I am thinking yale type night latch might be quicker and easier to fit.
The doors are knotty pine and I dont see them chisling well!

What do you people think?

A couple are sharing with a friend, I can only presume the wife dont trust the friend so much! She asked for a lock on the bathroom also this I will just fit a simple slide bolt. But the bedrooms need a proper lock with a key.

Locks for 'security' or 'privacy'?
For the latter I would fit bathroom locks. If necessary then fir the whole mortice
For 'security' then fir a mortice and be done.
Bodging a nigh latch onto an internal door screams bottom of the market HMO.

Drilling out most of the wood and sharp chisels is the way to go, IMO.

3 or 5 lever or euro cylinder what are the pros and cons. I know I also need to change the door furniture also

Seems like problems are on the way!!
Next thing will be can they have locks on the fridge etc and a pay as you go phone.

I would not fit Yales or any other type that locks automatically when you shut the door.
Who takes their keys to the loo at night.
Expect damaged door frames or lots of callouts

In the event of fire, is it a good idea to have non burstable locks on internal doors?

Euro cylinder mortice with thumb turn for the bedroom. Easy to change the cylinder when the tenant leaves or loses the key. Easy escape in any emergency.

I like them as they can have more of an offset than the usual mortice lock so less likelihood of grazing knuckles on the door jamb. They can be more in keeping with the style of the house too if that's important. Depending on the style of door they allow a better placement of the lock, a deep offset mortice can take most of the joint from the rail of a door. They might not work on hollow core doors, you'd have to check how deep the lock insert it.

They are nigerian couple and have a friend going to live with them so they can afford the rent. They all seam to have jobs to be fair. I think the wife is a bit worried about the friend maybe!

these are a little cheaper and incorperate the handle and latch but it would mean a hole to fill where the old handle passes through the door

Must internal doors are not up to this, they are not made with Mortice and Tenon like external doors.

Might be better off with an old fashioned surface mounted rimlock ? Can easily be restored back to original after the eviction.
