That was a common problem on some Fords that had tempered seats , also VW air cooled engines if Champion spark plugs had been fitted

What could be the cause of that?

Made some brackets up to upgrade the depth gauge I had fitted to the TS head.

Also made fittings for the lathe compound and ordered an encoder head and more magnetic tape from AliExpress.

Slotted a piece of alloy bar to take the magnetic tape and stainless cover.

I've officially replaced every single electric component under the hood.
Tomorrow I'll buy a battery charger and hopefully my loved Punto will run again.
If not,I have no regrets and I'm happy anyway because I've done everything I could do to save it.
Finished to reassemble it an hour ago.
I've fitted the new wire harness with little struggle because of FIAT engineers who designed so bad the harness layout,long cables where not needed,short where they should be.
Plus they made it pass through a lot of areas I personally prefer not to.
Anyways fingers crossed wish me good luck .

You know when you have this idea, don't think it through fully, then have a sudden realisation you're an idiot?

I have a whole bunch of redundant 24VAC valve actuators. They have an M8 thread for a little aluminium bracket that attaches to the 4-port valve. The valves get stiff, the aluminium bracket shears and they bin the whole lot. Perfectly useable for "something". With a quick mod they'll happily run along a bit of M8 studding at low speed in fwd/rev as they have a 3 wire cable. Been trying to think of a use for them. This with the lid off:

So...as they're M8 I figured get my lad to reproduce the final gear with the M8 centre thread upped to M10:

If I now say this was for a rotator device to turn an M10 bolt whilst I weld it, maybe someone can see the issue?

Did think about setting the geared section in a water bath and remotely mounting the motor:

How to earth the bolt?

A lump of copper or alu threaded on the bolt would make a heatsink and with wire wrapped make a slip joint for earthing.

Top photo wrap a decent length of Terry Towel / old bath towel round the bolt and wet it with cold water leave 3/4 inch above the towel free of towel ?????? CO2 weld them as there is a lot less heat involved to tack it up ?
Or
Make a long extension , say 6 " s screw it in place and lightly screw the bolt in it , you could still use a wet cloth to suppress hot sparks ?
Set it up in a vice so you weld at 25 or so degrees that way falling sparks will tend to drop away from the motor & cables and it's fairly easy to weld on a rotating slope

After helping a friend, fix the leak in the bath room, he showed me his new toy.
A small CNC mill, for wood, with a host of pre loaded plans.
So I made this.

The salvaged Black plastic which was under the feet of the bath.
The white is just Airfix white paint.


But we need something to put them in.

With the Fords I think it was over tightening, not sure about the Champion plugs in VWs but I’ve come across the problem loads of times but never with any other spark plug manufacturers

Spark temperature? Maybe to high for the amount of fuel, compression ecc?

I've been plugging away weekends on my Camper conversion.

I've got all the insulation (floor & walls, plus overcab area) in except the main ceiling (going in last after my elecrical conduit and cables); most of the furniture made (sofa base in as it doubles as the dc electrics base, loo walls, plus the bed base/garage segregation).

Kitchen base made bespoke (as I had to offset the fridge 90mm from the grill & hob above to clear a bodywork rib for the flue & vents - holes not cut yet )
Overhead cupboards I've made 2 of 3 ready to fit.

Yesterday I started on the (DC) electrics. The Split Charge supply to my Habitat Batteries. It should be a simple, quick circuit - except it turned into a PITA as I didn't have 12vdc after I routed the (fused) +I've off the main starter battery.
I checked continuity- all good.
I re-checked my Earth for the Hab batteries (using one of the vacant Load Securing floor bolts for the Earth) - all good.
Turned out that the main battery -ive post connection was grand - but the piggy-back connector off that (which also has the main vehicle Ground connected to it) - was poor.... so despite the van working fine, I was getting less than 9vdc metered (the SPR won't power up at all below 8.8vdc - hence it all seeming to be dead or defective).
Wasted loads of time on what should gave been the simplest circuit going in!
Still - it's all working now.

Today... trying to work out all my internal wiring distribution, switching & fusing arrangement & placement etc.
Then - wiring it all up and fitting stuff.
Then - AC Dis & cabling.
Then........

Made a steering wheel for the toy car. This is MK3 - the last one was too big. Novel thing this time was it was a 2 sided carve, machined one side, flipped then did the other so it’s a single piece instead of 2 halves. Not perfect but successful none the less.

Merely altered, not made. Disliked that bog standard grey junction box they used on the chipper, so replaced it with a smaller, black inline junction box, (& dropped one of the case screws down the blade area whilst I was at it ). Cut the top gland off & capped it with a plastic cap which just happened to be a perfect fit over the stub.

Italy is nearby, I have traveled around the North many times and further to Normandy and Lucerne. And I search a lot in different languages. If you need to find information in Italy, or a link from an Italian site, then.... The sites remember this and such a screenshot is possible.
