Driveway alarms

Are these any good.

I chased 6 scrotes wearing balaclavas off next doors drive yesterday, broad daylight and mid afternoon, probs about 14yrs old. Been here 15 years, first incident like it.

i have wired active beam alarm on my drive snow wind and rain dogs and cats dont set them off they just walk underneath them .cost 100 quid a pair and been fitted 30 years now . a nice screamer in the house wakes you up and you can take the appropriate action

Mine came with 4 sensors It's been excellent, batteries last for about 3 months in them.
We are quite remote and stuff doesn't usually come up the drive late so it's been worth it's weight in batteries over the years. Caught fly tippers, people trying to course hares and countless travellers looking for somewhere to stop.

November last year we had an electric gate put in way down the drive and that's made a huge difference!

I still use it for my workshop, camper van, work van and garage, it's a last line of defence for them as the other alarms should be wailing way before that is, but crims are getting good at disabling alarms these days by all accounts so I'm going belt and braces. Without resorting to the old blank shotgun cartridge alarm!

Yeah, looking at these too. I think if I set the height right, I could eliminate the cat and dog problem. They have a narrow beam. Not so sure about the rain, snow etc...

mine are made by radiovisor there bombproof wind rain and snow does not set them off at all they have heaters in them

It's not the taking the pith that's so much of the problem, it's the taking the gator, trailers and generally everything that isn't bolted down then chained up and electrified!
Although judging from the power cut recently, and the remains of some very bloody and charred boots that were found near the 11kv lines even electrifying things doesn't always work!

I'm sorry thieving traveller folk are causing you grief.

Sorry @Barking Mat we have had issues with some traveling folk, I agree that not all are the same and it was unfair to paint them all in the same tarnished colour!
I do know some that are very nice people not far from me who have helped myself and several friends in the past.

I've seen both sides of the argument, it's generally the minority who ruin it for the majority.

I'm sticking with the shotgun cartride's.....plenty of warning.....hahaha....
On occ I sleep in my workshop with 2 dogs plus a 12gauge.....
No real probs but just in case....

Thought it was the other way around, the appropriate actions result in screams.

Pretty good tbh, had them for years. I masked up the sensor window and camouflaged the sensor with greens, browns spray paint. Was a bit over sensitive (as in our giant cat) so I narrowed the sensor window with duct tape. Wouldn't be without them tbh. Well worth the pittance they are.

You can buy packs of multiple sensors and sounders.

I'll go proper twin/triple beam alarms at some stage.

I’ve lost track of how long we’ve had it for but it has to be at least ten years and it has been very reliable.

This is one I've just done for someone else locally. I sprayed the sensor and masked the sensor with camo tape. Also painted over the red LED on the sensor. Cheap as but it works:

I do spray the battery terminals inside the sensor with contact cleaner to stop them getting manky.
