I have some of the above , just came out in flower , my question is can I split and re plant whilst in bloom, as I would like to put some on a grave , could nt do it earlier as did nt know which pot they were in. thanks

temped to just cut through with a trowel and re plant half but but certainly dont want to kill off what I have.

u wont kill em but the flowering wont last...they'll come up next year ok....
I planted at least 50 in memory of my late wife....she loved em....

We had one pop up last year out of nowhere, never seen it before. I'll watch for it this year.

I got some Fritillaria bulbs a few years ago, and the bulbs had the same smell as cannabis.

When they bloomed the single flower head did not last very long. Disappointing.

we had them in a pot around the back, sheltered under some conifers , they looked great but we hardly got to see them so I brought the pot around the front , not so sheltered at all, get wind blown or schorched so definately dont do so well or last as long. looking sad for themselves today after a cold night , followed by heavy rain and blowing , beautifull things though .

I understand that you like these Fritillaria bulbs and the display they provide. There are some great looking tulips that you could plant around the Fritillarias and they will complement each other.

I planted a decent amount of red tulips around the base of a holly tree. Very reliable appearing at the same sort of time each year as is the nature of bulbs. There are deep yellow ones, purple etc. All to look forward to every spring.

thanks, yes tulips , always a good show , we have one bunch in the garden ,they seem to show up some years yet not others for some reason . so far have snow drops ,primrose ,daffodil along with a tiny purple jobby I forget the name of. Its dads anniverserary this week so will be putting fresh cut flowers on as well.
