How would I find one designed for a vehicle?
Could you show me how? They currently have a resistor on when you buy them, but is suspect its all used around 12v not 14.4You could just regulate the power supply to the lamp. A 7812 and a couple of capacitors is all it would take.
Thanks Can I buy one ready made ?
I suspect by the time I have bought all the bits it might be cheaper?
Thanks PM on its wayIf it is only one that you want, I could probably knock one up for you.
Are glashing brake lights strictly legal in the UK?Flashing LED in a vehicle, its designed to work on 12v, but after a few months it stops flashing and stays on?
Is it poor quality?
Or is it the vehicle can charge up to 14.4v?

What size Resistor then?Ah, this is grossly overkill then! All you need is to reduce the forward current with a higher resistance.
Unfortunatley I doubt this will work - lm7812's and similar regulators have a 2.5v dropout voltage, which puts the minimum input at 14.5v - near the maximum a car will run at. It will almost never output a regulated 12v.
Something like an LT1185 would work.
