What is this box on cable ?

I've bought a motor to build a vibration tumbler / cleaner.
Can anyone tell em what is the black cube on the cable ?

Is the motor single or 3 phase ?

Probably a remote start capacitor, does it have a 4 core cable from the black box to the motor? If so the earth wire probably only goes as far as the black box and the motor will need earthing seperately.

Is it a noise suppression block, they are sometimes round but stop noise on the electrical installation.

That's what I am thinking, remote the cap (and maybe a relay) away from the vibration for longer life.

It's a single phase motor. The box is sealed and the cable goes inside the motor so not possible to check if three or four strands. Looking at the, Chinese, instructions the wiring diagram does show four strands going into a capacitor so assume that is in the black box rather than the motor casing as I would have expected. I'll check if there is continuity between the earth strand and the actual motor casing
