Katana isn’t a war sword, it is now considered part of their cultural heritageI did hear somewhere that Japan broke the ‘rules’ of their surrender agreement when they named the Suzuki Katana motorcycle. Apparently they were forbidden from using anything remotely related to war or violence in any way, shape or form. Katana is some sort of war sword, apparently. I don’t think anybody actually complained about it, 30+ years after VJ Day.
I can assure you that Japan and Japanese companies take the ruling very seriously.
So much so, when Land Rover decided to make the last version of the militarised Defender (wolf I think) Denso forbade them from using their fuel system on a military vehicle as it contravened the terms of the agreement put in place in 1945
So we at Ricardo, had the job of changing and re-certifying the military defenders to run Bosch fuel systems rather than Denso of the production vehicles
A significant cost which no-one had anticipated
