I have a bog standard front/back house type door as a side door to my garage which had developed a leak around the inset glass panels over the last couple of years.
At work we use sheets of aluminum to clad plant rooms and so have some off cuts available - they are similar to caravan side panels consisting of a thin aluminum sheet coated with tectured plastic type of coating - again similar to the cladding used on on newly constucted metal framed warehouses etc
I cut the sheet to the size of the door and applied pva adhesive and silicone around the edges and then attached it with tek screws designed for wood.
However one edge is determined not to sit flush on the edge of the door and keeps lifting so i removed the silicone and pushed some 'no more nails' into the edge and clamped it for several hours -but it still lifts away from the wooden door
Can anyone recommend a solution - doesnt have to be an instant grab as i can clamp a batten to it over a weekend
Also
The thing looks like an high security/heavy duty side door to a shop/factory unit which is playing on my mind both asthectically (looking) and will it attract attention from undesirables thinking there is expensive kit in the garage - any ideas how to 'tone it down' - at the moment a sheet of 1/2 inch ply painted and stuck over the top springs to mind
It would have been quicker to have gone out and brought upvc door and frame and fitted that
Thanks
Mark
