18 inch is enough for most jobs, I can't understand people who put the longest bar possible and they use it for everything, I'm more for the shortest bar possible for the job you are doing to keep everything as compact and manageable as possible.if it gives them a laugh am all for it
and only ever used it once not with 4 kids
18 inch half that be good
I think you may have missed the joke18 inch is enough for most jobs, I can't understand people who put the longest bar possible and they use it for everything, I'm more for the shortest bar possible for the job you are doing to keep everything as compact and manageable as possible.
Plus you don't go to stress the power head with all the extra resistance caused by a longer bar and chain.
357xp
It's probably a 357xp (46mm bore) but may have had a 359 cylinder kit (47mm bore) fitted, both will fit.
Cylinder kits manufactured by Hyway or Meteor are the best apart from oem parts.
If it died after 20 mins run time, it may have an air leak causing fuel mixture problems (crank seals or bad gaskets), if you decide to pass it on, I would be interested.....

not sure they want to spends 100s on it but ive been looking at kits bore and piston 40 ish quid for the cheapy 90 ish for metor quality head gasket air filter gasket and crank seals are 10erSearch results for: '357xp piston' | L&S Engineers

Did a quick read and appears common to swap the rubber carb boot to prevent air leaks.
I have a 52cc auger where it had an air leak and ruined the piston but still runs fine after cleaning up.

probably the problemSorry but no comprehenda ( in best spainish accent ) or I'm not sure what your trying to convey ,
let it warm up on idle then cool overnight 3 times ?I'd give it a few heat cycles with a normal mix then not worry about it. Just don't thrash it from cold.
When I bought a new husky a while ago it said 9 tanks before giving it full bore for long periods
I'm hoping I found the reason for the damage after it had been rebuilt the last time on this one (assuming on all 357s) there's a little black pipe about 2.5 cm goes from the plastic housing to the port of the cylinder that had a 2 mm hole in it that I would assume would let more air in than required
Could be I did it on dismantling but I don't think so as looked like it's been rubbed away as the tube was thin and ruff in that area and the tube was hard as well
just have to see how it goes i suppose i hope in a year or so i can update the thread with a 2nd update to say it still working but its looking on how the unit is theres a few screws missing in a couple places the plate near where the chain goes needs replacing the plastic unit where the carb attaches to could do with a new bit and its all a bit tired could realy do with a doner that the engine failed bigtime on it it might come at some point
We may have one on a scrap saw at work, or if you give me the serial no. I can price a new one.My Husky 254 wouldn’t start. Checked all the ususal things, turns out the fly wheel key has sheared off!
Anybody got a flywheel for a 254/262 lying about that they don’t need?
I know the price of a new one, I haven’t got a spare kidney If you do have a used one that would be great. We may have one on a scrap saw at work, or if you give me the serial no. I can price a new one.
