Unlike the tin worm and unreliability of cars of the escort mk2 and earlier eraThe electronics of modern stuff will be the death of them before they become classics

Thanks, used to have an M reg years ago, and have sat in the No1 Spen king Velar (RR first name) when i worked for JLR and got a private tour of the heritage centre.Bit of a dream motor for me I'd love a 2 door 70's resto mod , Hope you have a great time with the rebuild![]()
wife had a 135 MGTF which we found had loads of fixings only half tightened by some "proffesional" garage, one of which was the suspension mounting pin (in shear) attaching the top arm to the rear spring/shock. It got a good going through, but still took a lot of maintenance to keep as a daily driver (brakes, suspension bushes, track rod ends etc). When I drove it I found it turned me into a hooligan again. The issue was though, that it didn't have enough power (or too much rear grip)...I thought about it for the MGTF when they were a dime a dozen a few years back. But i lost my free storage so it was a non starter :-(
mx5sThis always makes me wonder if there's a modern car or bike this principal should be applied to. Something affordable like the escorts were back in the day.
Bloke that lived just down the road from me had a garage containing a couple of Imps and a couple in his front garden. He was getting rid of the worst shell by slowly putting it in his rubbish bin every week. One year, one shell. That was long before scrappies would come out and take them away for free, they'd charge you for collection, quite a bit, too.My dad had quite a few Heralds over the years and one Vitesse that he was given, turned out it was a rust bucket so we cut it up with a hacksaw to take it bit by bit to the skip![]()
That was the reason we chopped it up with a hacksaw, it wasn't for fun I can assure you.... That was long before scrappies would come out and take them away for free, they'd charge you for collection, quite a bit, too.
Made a few bits for a similar vessel, stainless milled badges (used a 1mm cutter), knob for something at the steering wheel, looked like an indicator lever but don't have them on boats so no idea what it was.Riva with twin Lamborghini V12.
