When I worked for BT some of the courses were residential, in the early days, rooms had a basin but no toilet. The instructors used to wind up the apprentices on the last day of the course that they couldn’t go until the basins had been checked with urine disclosing tablets. Many red faces among the lads. Life got more civilised later on with on-suite rooms, not before time.

There are two ways of looking at that issue.... We don't segregate at home, so does it really matter?
Then on the other hand, it is an opportunity perhaps for bullies etc whose victims no longer have a "safe place"? Not sure which way I would go on that conundrum.

We don't share our home bathrooms with strangers of the opposite sex though. Schools who have moved to unisex toilets have often ended up having cameras installed or staff on the door to prevent incidents.

I don't object completely to unisex toilets if they are fully enclosed cubicles with basins and women aren't subject to possibly being alone being in a closed off area with men, but I'd like like to see additional single sex facilities available as well. I don't want women to have to worry about whether the creepy guy who followed them into the loos is still there when they come out of their cubicle.

It's just a result of our sociocultural conditioning that we have separate loos.
Objectively speaking, as long as there are cubicles with doors, I don't see that it's
that important.
Additionally, it would easily solve the multi gender issue.

The topic of the widespread, & sadly all too commonplace, sexual harassement of women, is one
of which I am very aware. One thing that somehow got hardwired into me, since the very beginning,
is that any female should always feel safe & comfortable in, or around, my presence.
While those statistics that you posted do raise some interesting consideration around this particular
question, I would wonder if that was really a consideration when segregated facilities started being
introduced, during the 19th century

I think it was, though it was about 40 years after the first public Men's toilet opened that the first Ladies public loo was opened. Yes it was social convention to separate the sexes in other ways but I think women's safety, and privacy and dignity, was a major consideration with toilets, waiting rooms and so on.

It's still an issue today. Japan has women only rail carriages because of issues with male behaviour. One in 3 women UK train and tube users have been sexually harassed during their commute.

I don't use any of the letters I have as I feel it is a little pretentious. If someone asks to be referred to as something, then I am happy to oblige. If they don't I use whatever they have put. This seems to be instigated by this snowflake transgender issue and as usual the majority have to put up with the minority . What a B****y world.

Don't do it. Listing your pronouns is basically admitting you subscribe to the idea that we all have an innate gender identity that might or might not be the same as our sex. It's a metaphysical belief for which there is no proof. Gender identity is just made up nonsense that relies on stereotypes, and nobody should be giving this stuff any legitimacy by falling in line with the pronouns demands.

Added to which if you look on social media lots of employers say if they see pronouns listed on a CV or letter it's an automatic No from them because they know the applicants will be more trouble than they are worth.

My OH works gir a University IT section - so of course all this stuff is given endless support.
She tried explaining it to me - I got wound up & retorted "stuff it - from now on then I identify as a Standard Lamp or a Chest of Drawers - cos that makes about as much sense to me!".
The thing I always think of to rationalise this kind of think is "I identify as a Millionaire - but that does not make me one".
Personally, it's no odds to me what person "identifies as" nor what pronoun they prefer. However - when it's considered to be my fault for failing to correctly guess and apply a correct pronoun when there's no way of knowing - then the ridiculousness of it all pushes my buttons, & my natural "logical & pragmatic & not always PC" personality may take over.
(I honestly don't think I'd last very long in a work environment where I'd have to walk on eggshells for fear of offending people because I do not have ESP, only a male/female appearance to work with).
