At the risk of diverting the thread ....I was thinking today about EV tax.

If EVs and PHEVs will pay the same VED...I think I'd choose the PHEV unless I lived in zero emission and/or congestion zone?

40 year old classic is looking very attractive!

They are next on the to be banned list .
Only to ever now be transported on a trailer towed by an EV , due to the amount of pollution they produce when running the engine and inherently unsafe electrical & mechanical condition as they do not have a valid annual MOT certificate to be on the road..

Naa...can't ban them...where's the sense in that! Just make sure maximum monies are extracted from the owners at every opportunity...while reminding them constantly how bad they should feel whilst they hand over the cash .

The only certainty we have is that whatever is the engine/motor 'must have' at present, it will not be in 5 to 10 years time.

Requires no money spending on it, motor rebuilt by a specialist, and the interior renovated. Externally in presentable condition for age, can be difficult to get started but would respond to a little TLC. A cheap to run desirable asset.

It's far less of a burden on the taxpayer /state to ban them on public roads ..no scribble serpent pensions to pay , earns more tax from trailers & fuel etc
