Prescription safety glasses?

Thought it would be worth reviving this vintage thread as I've come across a much cheaper solution for prescription safety glasses than my previous £300+ quid ones from last year.

You just buy the prescription pack which contains a certificate for a pair of Bollê safety glasses that you take to a Boots (or apparently others) with your prescription and order a pair of safety glasses with high impact lenses which can be single vision or varifocal. I'd never heard of this scheme; the prescription pack was on special offer at MSC Industrial for (IIRC) £128 in December 2023. but a quick look at eBay shows the same thing from multiple sellers on sale at about £75-£90 I bought my prescription pack for about £85, and picked up the glasses at the weekend -they're identical to the £300+ ones I bought last year.

Nothing in the paperwork I received to say that there are any restrictions WRT available optical correction. Also had a quick look at their website which is a typical corporate 'information free zone' with lots of annoying popups. Might be worth phoning them though to enquire 0208 391 4733

who pays for the polycarb lens blanks , grinding and fitting then ?? are you basically buying an empty frame and then paying again to get them glazed by a lab. may not be simple either as bolle tend to be very curvy so that adds a fair bit to lens blanks too , a lot of labs wont grind after a base curve of 4

Bolle pay for the lenses, the fitting and the Boots dispensing charge; the lenses they use are the premium scratch resistant 'Platinum' ones in either single vision or varifocal -buying the prescription pack is the total cost; well, assuming you have a glasses prescription already, if you don't you would need to pay for an eye test if you're not exempt from having to pay.

I've just bought from www.safetyspecs.co.uk they were very helpfull, I called up to ask some question as I'm short sighted but I'm also in the beginning stages of neading reading glasses / Near ADD

Spoke to a girl there called Alison she was super helpful, she arranged a call the next morning with an optician David was his name I think.
Again very helpful answered all my questions.
They have a great range at reasonable prices with a wide range of prescriptions available.

Your prescription is on the high end but they have 3 options in that range. up to = - 12
at 63 pounds plus VAT its pretty good price.

There are more options at -10

The lower you go the more options available.
But it would be no harm to give them a call to see if they could squeeze an extra -1 into one of their -10 frames.
