@Smallfry why do those make a difference? Colonel Sanders didn’t make his fortune until he was 70 I think? Plus there’s countless examples of people becoming very successful after receiving virtually no formal education.

Limits are self imposed or imposed by others. Nothing is impossible unless you believe it is.

What you say is true, anyone can make it with the right breaks, but education does help, but there are far many more university educated people who have failed to make anything of themselves, and all the inspirational or motivational words of wisdom will not help.

A friend of mine is in HR. She headhunts people, and she tells me that once you are over 30 unless you have a track record and are very good at what you do, further education is mostly a waste of time. Of course it all depends on the attitude of the particular company, but the sad truth is that most are after younger blood.

Not everyone is entrepreneurial either.

How do you do this without adding an extra owner on the V5 document? Or do you declare yourself a trader?

To be successful a person needs to have good business acumen and intelligence, neither can be taught. Don’t think luck plays too big a hand in this, some of the most successful businessmen in the country have lost the shirts off their backs on more than one occasion and bounced back.

Persistence counts for a lot.....

Clear any outstanding debt as this will save you the most money in the long run.
Otherwise stick it in premium bonds until you figure out what you want to do with it - easy access with no penalties for withdrawing it and a chance of winning - likely average out more interest than sitting in your current account if you have it in for a while.

you most likely wont see F all from 5k worth of premium bonds , cats chance in hell of a decent win , bank interest wont be nothing on that , mrs has 5k in barlclays that pays 5% and its £20 a month !

id say pay off any credit cards etc first
