Moving videos from Android to Dropbox

It seems rather strange that it seems to be extremely difficult to actually move files (in my case videos) from an Android Galaxy s21 phone.

Copying is easy but I now need to create space on my phone so I need to move files.
Any sensible suggestions.

Can't you copy to dropbox then delete the original on your phone?, I tend to tranfer large files via USB to my PC then send them to dropbox, youtube etc. as I'm not confident doing it with my phone (unlike Mrs Robo who never seems to use her PC)

with drop box you have the original and a dropbox copy of the same file so you have 2 copys on the same device

beaware if you delete the dropbox copy it deletes the file

best way is to copy over to your pc select which videos you want seen and back up the rest onto either online storage or via a hard drive

I've got a galaxy, I just use the 'share' button below the video, then go to 'add to drop box'

After it's loaded I delete the file on the phone, then download it from DB to my macbook. simples.

That's what I was trying to do but the move function/button is either greyed out or not available.

I was going to fall back to copy and delete as many suggested but I had about 8 videos to move.

I ended up using fx file manager as that had a facility to add Dropbox as a remote cloud.

Cant you cut and paste? Cut removes them. Copy copies them.

If you did it with the phone connected to the PC could you though? I know its another connection and not as easy as doing a straight transfer on the phone but could be a quickish workaround?

I use share on my android phone... In my case to the One Drive app on said phone. Once shared (do check) , the copy on the phone can be deleted.

Not all files are recognised/compatible on all devices. One example is that the dashcam footage from my car(memory card) will play on my PC windows 10. But it can be a pain to get it to play on my android phone.

There are apps to get around that, but you usually have to consent to 'allow the app to have access to all your files on your phone'. I don't like that.

It was meant to say around 80 videos to move. Lol
