Workshop oven

Who’s got an oven in their workshop? I’ve had mine for about ten years. It cost me £13 off eBay. Can’t believe I haven’t put a boot through the glass yet. It’s currently drying some oil cans that I bought brand new but we’re full of a mix of swarf and grease that I didn’t fancy pumping into my lathe bearings. Yesterday I used it to heat up the clutch spider off my BSA so I could shrink it onto a mandrel for machining. I’ve used it to heat up engine cases to fit bearings, dry out welding rods, etc etc. It gets a lot of use. As it’s only an oven/grill it draws less than 13amp so it’s on a 3 pin plug. great thing to have if you have the space for it.

No space for an oven but I do have a kitchen type 3kw induction hob for warming steel parts, also the other induction heater for warming bolts and smaller parts.
And a rubbish cheap kitchen hotplate.

Which makes me think, perhaps a dishwasher too!

I had a dishwasher in my previous garage, 'bought' off Freecycle. Surpringly useful as it can wash at outrageous temperatures using detergent that will take your skin off.

I have considered an oven from similar sources, but so far I've got away with brave pills and sending her off shopping with her sister. My own oven would probably be cheaper! Then I could bypass the interlock and heat things up to the self cleaning temperature.

As @Kram I do have a single 'ring' induction hob that can heat castings to around 200C quite succesfully.

Edit: not too useful for aluminium though!

Edit: these days her oven is mostly set at c. 40-50C and used for hardening off small painting jobs.

...I rescued next door neighbours from the local scrappy. I bolted some castors on it and it lives outside under a tarp. Use it for powder coating duties

no I just use the oven in my house, as that's my workshop. I dont cook food in it though. I use a microwave oven with a built in convection oven and grill for cook food in.

I threw one away a month ago.
I had it for 2 years and never found time to use it.

I had an oven in the garage for a few years. I got it to powder coat but used it for other
things, fitting oil pumps, bearings in crank cases, curing slow drying filler/paint/epoxy and so on.

I have one in storage ready to be installed when I have a tidy/sorted workshop...............one day soon hopefully......

I'd love one, but haven't the space. Use the kitchen for spring setting, valve guides, liners etc, but wifey draws the line at paint curing!
