Ours is really good. Over the last few weeks i've taken the entire contents of a 2 bed terrace there. Kitchen, bathroom, doors, carpets, rubble, plasterboard the lot. In my RS3
Saved at least £800 on skips and caused about £1,200 of damage to my car

Back when we were kid free and flush with money me and the missus picked up a slate hearth from a slate quarry in her new Golf Gti Edition 30 3 door with the back seats folded down.

A more unsuitable vehicle to be driving down rutted roads to a workshop in a slate quarry you would be hard pushed to find - even more so coming back with the hearth weighing the back of the car down

Our local tip is pretty good to be fair, with van's you have to register and get 12 trips a year, I'd be screwed if I had to use the van!
So I use the Surf instead and I can get an incredible amount of crap in the back of that and have no limitations on how often I can go.
Hopefully this new rule will stop the scumbags dumping their rubbish everywhere!
You'd have thought the councils would have worked this problem out years ago, but we all know how stupid and blinkered they are.

People will still dump rubbish, as it'll still be too much effort to take it when the tip is open.

You just need to look at the s*** show that happened at one of Edinburgh's tip's last year.
Tip was closed, so people just dumped their Christmas trees and rubbish at the gate. Took the council hours to move it all with a loading shovel, as they couldn't even get the main gate open.

They (Flintshire County Council) closed a whole load of small local recycling centres a few years back, and then seemed surprised at the sudden increase of fly tipping that occurred

We have been warned to expect more increases in council tax and for things like garden waste collection as they are not going to meet their recycling quotas. You couldn’t really make it up.

On top of that the cardboard and plastic/tin recycling system they have in place is atrocious, we have woven plastic sacks for each, which get blown about in the wind and are an absolute pain to load anything into. The councils either side of use plastic stacking boxes which are much more user friendly and don’t seem to suffer the same problems.

Doesn’t seem to matter how much you complain about it they persevere with the same rubbish system and rather than change something they simply threaten everyone with cost increases.

Last time I went to our local tip there was a dedicated skip for plasterboard as it is recycled to make more plasterboard.

same as ours to be fair they never moaned about the amount iver tiped of diy waste (though ive always been carefull not to go loads of times each day 2 times in the morning then might go once late afternoon and allways never with in 20 mins of the tip closing as i know they realy dont like people that turn up with a boot full that takes 15 20 mins to unload

but at ours the hardcore bin is up a ramp with a stupid high handle bar so if you got a 42 ltr tub the handle bar is 2/3rds of a foot higher than it needs to be so you have to lift it that much higher to get it over and also you used to be able to park behind the bin so you only had to take the stuff out the boot up the slope and in it goes then they had the stupid idea to say parking there was an obstruction and you had to park in the bays so every time you have to go to your boot walk down the side of your car when there is someone only 3 foot gap apart as the cars are parked stop look as your crossing where the cars drive cross up the ramp and tip takes 5 times as long

im sure they where only making it harder to tip stuff they dont want

the stuf they can sell scrap metal wood garden waste all easy access

This was a p**s take anyway, but will not make any difference to fly tippers round here. Its all builders stuff, or from those unlicensed waste collectors who charge.
What they should do with anyone caught doing it is £10k fine, no ifs, or buts, even if wife and kids are made homeless, and vehicle crushed.

I avoid ours...pre booking only...then they want to look thro your car too. Turned my neighbour away because his fence wasn't allowed in the wood section...it was deemed to be commercial waste!

Wouldn't mind one of those plastic crates, we have 4 full size wheely bins here. Not so bad if you've got the space to store them but the state of the terraced back streets round here, look like a bin factory storage yard.

I had a similar conversation at our tip a few years ago…..locked car, proceeded to phone council ……girl in office said I can tip it mate, you say I cant….and passed him my phone….fence posts…his problem they had stapes in so must be agricultural waste.
Much more sensible now you can even go in a 4 door pickup with no permit.

Its not so easy to catch people and prove it was them.
Our HWRC is ran by Biffa, not council, which is most of the problem.

Also Biffa lorries doing the bin round are responsible for most of the litter dropped, it falls out the bins and they wont pick any up. They should be fined for fly tip!

This tree has been attacked with a handsaw. Two deep cuts that could resemble an unfinished and badly aimed sink cut. The homeowner has repeatedly reported the tree and wants it removed, note that it is blocking the sat dish behind.

String just to make it more visible.

Council cant proove it was the resident, all they can now do is remove the tree before it becomes dangerous.

Well thats not much, it would take weeks if you were to do a bathroom renovation to get rid of a bathroom suite and associated rubbish/rubble
