Calling anyone good with Ubuntu 22.04LTS

Hello, I have run Ubuntu for years. My old computer was 32 bit and wouldn't accept the upgrade to 22.04LTS. New pooter, 22.40LTS up and running, marvellous.
I cannot get it to run TOR. The old pooter ran TOR with no problems.
I download, extract, do all the terminal malarkey, all to no avail.
It seems to be a 22.04 LTS problem.
I don't use a VPN.
My adblocker is off when downloading TOR.
When I try torbrowser-launcher in the terminal, I get a download error 404
Anyone any ideas?

Have you added the repository then updated and installed all in the terminal? Or do you mean you have downloaded a file in a web browser then extracted it before using the terminal to install?

Not sure they do, however he’s already said it has downloaded so that’s not the issue.

Unfortunately they have started to block tor and the default connection bridges it uses, 404 is a connection issue error code, even if you have downloaded the app it requires the connection to complete the installation and config.

If you use your ISP's default DNS servers then it's practically guaranteed that they'll know you've been on the Tor website.

I don't want to sound like an Ar$e but if you don't mind explaing to me, why is it so important to you to download and install Tor browser?

its a secure browser that lets you access the darkweb. other than that, no good reason.

It is curiosity more than anything. I used to like looking up weird things on Tor. Most of it was already on DuckDuckGo. I don't wear a tin foil hat, although my dad used to put tin foil in his flat cap to keep his head warm!

If your not technically capable of setting up access to a web server or other service running in your home and want to do so, in order to access files from anywhere on the net, then tor browser can be used to access such services when you set them up using more tor apps such as OnionShare and tor services, you can not access these services running on your home computer without going to them using a tor browser which can access .onion addresses, and it is all very easy to set up, you can host a private for family chat server that no one else can access, same with a website or file server. No tin hat required, it simply cuts out whatscrapp someone else's web server or file server from the picture completely, its secure and none of your information is available to anyone other than those intended. Needless to say the powers that be are not keen on it, so they are now forcing your operating system provider to do their spying for them right on your computer and stop you from sending any communication that they term to be hate speech, its already built into apples OS, Microcrap will happily comply and do the same, Linux will be a different story because it is too distributed for the powers that be to bully into submission.

Also if your in an office situation , using tor to browse the internet will stop everyone else in the office getting adverts for hammers and work boots so much

I fiddled with Tor a while back but didn't really see the need once I concluded that I wasn't in the market for illicit drugs or overthrowing governments.

I've always been quite comfortable with incognito mode and/or a VPN.
