It's the shortest day on Friday so lighter nights after that too

The same I've thought myself...
I have to complete my daily driver first...
Today even if I'm very tired of cause my job , I've found the last energies to rebuild the starter motor.
Tomorrow hopefully I can put everything together, and till whenever the spring compressor arrives I can't complete it.
I've changed my plans on the 126p many times.
I'm not sure about the engine now
I can get both cylinder and pistons OEM at the same price of the forged pistons alone.
But still have to pay almost 300 for the balancing because of the H connecting rods which I'll never change my mind about, absolutely needed.
But anyway it requires lots of work on the body and I don't know what comes along the way.
What's next I don't know, but this is one of the days we were talking about.

I stalled on my Mk2 Jaguar project around 3 years ago when my shoulders got too bad to do almost any work on it, It had sat on the car lift all that time! now with two new shoulders I found I had lost my mojo as well as my car lift! then I was asked to help a guy I sort of knew in my village, he had suffered a mental breakdown after taking early retirement, totally went to pieces, ended up getting sectioned! now he comes along to help me twice a week, car is progressing well, back on track! has done him the power of good AND me, mojo returned....

Do you guys get rust over there? A mate has been bringing back Bedford J types from auz, the paint has been completely burnt off by the sun and there still isnt a spot of rust on them.

Wise advice from Fizzy over on the Christmas Projects thread - pick something small and easy and look to complete that.

Do you guys get rust over there? A mate has been bringing back Bedford J types from auz, the paint has been completely burnt off by the sun and there still isnt a spot of rust on them.

It just depends on the location and how they were stored or used. Most people would just try to find ones which aren't too rusty, there is usually enough of them around unless it is something valuable. I have vehicles that have been at Lightning Ridge (dry, hot area) for 30+ years, they are mostly burnt with some rust. They were probably rusty when they were bought cheaply by my Dad. That hasn't stopped the TK Bedford rusting away although the paint is still on it.

I restore minis that probably nobody else here would bother with.

Rust is not really a problem in modern vehicles.

Everyone seems to be trying to take Bedfords from here, especially the larger ones. They get cut up and sent to Pakistan etc.

I periodically get fed up with stuff, sometimes I'll get to the shed, have a look at all the stuff in there and wonder why I've got it all. I make lists of stuff to do, and it's lovely to tick one off now and again, but I can always think of another to go on in place of it. Now I've got a house to look after there's a load of other stuff to do, and half of it is stuff that mysteriously adds itself back onto the list even though I've done it - stuff like dusting, weeding, mowing lawns. My project car should have been done in maybe eighteen months, and while I've had some legitimate excuses for not doing stuff on it from time to time, I do really need to get my finger out with it, not least because I might have another project car coming and will need the space.

This can be difficult as we all lead busy lives I set a target and set time aside to try to complete it, any bits I can do at work are a great bonus as its like getting it done for free!
I have sold some of my bikes as I will never get around to them but I have since bought another thats now clogging the ramp whilst I re wire the lights!

A good friend of mine often say's you get pleasure from owning a vehicle you don't always have to use it!

That can be so true.

The divorce did me a favour in more ways than one. I learned to let go of possessions, through it.

I'm not saying I don't bother with tools nowadays, (obviously ), but I'm not tied with them, like I used to be. That's why I don't buy any restoration projects as such, nowadays. Those have a tendency to become an attachment & burden.

Same with me & tools. I have some tools I've never yet used, but you know when that day comes that you need them, they're ready & waiting.

It's full of off cuts and designed to slide under the front of one of the Capris in the garage. First problem, I've stacked so much crap in and on top of the car it's a pig to slide in as it now catches the front ARB.

Second problem...the radiator shat itself and emptied into the tray full of offcuts.

Soul destroying. I just walked out.

Tbh it's made from scrap mainly. Maybe do it third party in case someone stands and slips on it?
