New Inverter gas MIG Rohr for £216

Spotted this and ordered one to try it out



That is on ebay and if you add code SAVE15 at checkout it comes out at £216 delivered. Very cheap for a 200amp inverter gas MIG.

I can compare this to my R Tech Mig 180.

I want another MIG so one for each garage as lugging them around is not ideal for many reasons and at this price I went ahead.

I have reviewed a Rohr mini arc welder on here before and it was surprisingly good quality and still going strong.

I have done alot of research (after I bought it of course) and they get very good reviews.

This is one of the better u toob vids. If you want to see it actually welding skip to 27.35 in the video.

The only issues noted really are:

Gas leak inside the unit due to no PTFE tape on a fitting.

The inner circuit board is quite close to the metal casing and doesn't have an insulating sheet so best to check it didn't get bent in transit before turning it on.

For the above 2x reasons most people open then up on delivery which I will do.

Otherwise I don't see any common issues it seems like a solid enough machine especially for the £.

Not a huge fan of the lairy orange plastic casing but this can actually be removed to reveal an all black metal casing. I may do that and make a small metal grill for the front of it.



There does also appear to be good tec support and spares from reviews and they are in UK so that's good. I will make it my main MIG for the first few months and put it through its paces.

Is it inductance control like this one ?

The 3rd dial is for the Arc welding function. It comes with a rod holder / stinger too. Dual Function

Yes it's an ebay and PayPal purchase so will be safe has a year warranty too. From looking at detailed reviews parts are available but crucially the internals are branded parts so they could be purchased without needing to go to Rohr either. Aka essentially many universal parts inside.

I have a Rohr mini arc welder which I have had for 8 months or so and use it regular in my back garage since no mig in that garage until now. Its been faultless for me I hope the mig is too.



I also have sucess repairing faulty used / scrap welders I bought so I can fault find. Unless it melts a board or something then ill be in trouble.

There was a small gas leak, a brass nut on the gas solenoid valve was loose. The voltmeter and ammeter are useless as they only show anything when you are actually welding - when of course you cann't see them! That is quite a disappointment.
But, as very much an amateur, it does seems to weld nicely, both on mig and arc. Mig with CO2 gas on 1mm sheet was easy without burning through, and good on 1.5mm and some 2.5mm. Arc was good with 2mm rod on the 1.5mm and 2.5mm. Haven't tried anything heavier.

I realise also that these Rohr units appear identical to the Blackline 200 MIG in every way except the label and casing colours! They are the same welder.

I believe @My Old Landy may have a Blackline 200 is it still going OK and how long have you had it now?

I do have it still, over two years. Unfortunately I am no longer in a position to use it so for the last 18 months it has been gathering dust.

Ordered midday Thursday, arrived this morning - Saturday - and that is to a Scottish island, which usually takes an extra day, so quite impressive.

It's behaved itself and I can't really say anything bad about it. There are a few of the lads on here that also have them and I think they are of the same opinion.

There is one difference - the Rohr uses a short Dinse fly-lead to power the Euro torch socket, which allows easy polarity reversal. On the Blackline, the Eurosocket is permanently positive, using a fixed copper busbar. See:

I've had my rohr MIG welder for a couple of years now and carried out a number of big projects and jobs with it. Compared to my big heavy duty machines I use for my business no it's not the same build quality but also it didn't cost thousands.
I have found it to be a very capable and portable welder for the money which is idea for home projects.
Before buying the mig for at home I brought there small arc welder for work. I found it lays a brilliant weld down and have since brought two more one being slightly bigger amperage for larger overplating jobs. For the money they are its not so much of a worry working in wet locations.

I am still waiting on the Rohr to arrive. It was dispatched on Monday via parcelforce express 24 and the tracking stopped yesterday. Should be here today all being well.

I notice their prices have reverted back to £299 on all platforms so this offer didn't last long.
