Cheap diy Central locking kits - 5 door?

eBay shows stacks of 2 door / 3 door / 4 door kits but, curiously, not 5 door.

I know the drivers door gives feedback to the control unit, but the other actuators are just dumb, right?

So is adding another door just a case of splicing into some of the dumb wires?

They are essentially one output paralleled up for the doors and another on some for the boot. That is what I use on Scimitars. There is often a five wire input for the driver's door so that you can operate it from the door lock if you wish. Note that the boot output requires a relay, it is low current output.

The "boot" output is intended (apparently) to feed an OEM door control module, or some such nonsense. It also gives the facility of tripping the boot lock from a button on the remote (key fob) without unlocking the main doors and Vicky Verky..

Don't use it. Just add another actuator in parrallel with the normal actuator wiring.
Some of them have 2 wires but one sends a live pulse and one goes to ground rather than reversing like the motor wires.

You can buy the actuators individually for £5-6 but it might work out cheaper to buy a couple of 4 door kits and have some spares

You only use it for lock/unlock!
If you want remote boot opening as well just buy a cheap car alarm as most of them come with a few accessory channels. Get one with a remote siren then you can leave that unplugged and just use it as a remote interface.

Sledgehammer to crack a nut! The standard kit will be fine, you just relay the boot trigger output. If you wire all five solenoids in parallel, the hatch trips when the doors are unlocked. With a hatch or bootlid, that generally means that they are then loose, rather than just unlocked. The solenoid is normally used to pull the release catch. Otherwise, you are quite right of course.
