Anti-clock-wise pot

Temp wiring done on lathe, vfd and external switches working, but the odd thing is you have to turn the potentiometer anti-clock wise to increase the motor speed, all wiring done according to chinese/english instructions vfd book, it's ok I suppose but I thought it would be clock-wise to increase as the one on the vfd unit is.
If I exchange the 10v +and ground - wires to the pot it doesnt work at all.

Swap the two outside wires on the pot. It will work the other way.

Afraid not Pete, when I swap them over frequency on vfd shows 00.45 instead of 50.00 hrtz and motor will not run.

Can u post an image of the chinglish wiring diagram and your pot. As @pete says it should be a case of reversing the the two outer connections

It will still work with a log law pot, just not an even variation with rotation. Though maybe that might be better?

There is something very strange going on then. What happens if you turn the pot' fully clockwise? Does it then look as it did before?

You have miswired the pot' by the look of it. That logo suggests that the wiper is at the bottom.

That xplains it. The wiper connection on the multi-turn pot is at the bottom, not the middle.

Nothing wrong with using a multi-turn btw. Its what i have on my lathe vfd.

Fully clockwise vfd fan running, motor stopped, half turn anti clock and motor runs slowly, it's fine just wrong way.

That looks almost the same as the control box I made up. Great minds…

I wired the (single turn) pot up backwards just as you did, but swapping the connections corrected it. Can you post the diagram from the VFD manual, and the details of the pot?

Ok, so can you tell me how to wire it plz? On vfd there is 10v, A11 and ground. I have the middle connection on the pot to A11, unsure about the other 2 as I would have to go and see.

Aha! thank you, indeed I did wire it wrong. Which terminal on the pot is bottom?

I was gonna say the wiper sounds like it is on the wrong terminal.
