Pully replace what do i need to know ?

On a compressor I've been playing with I've now found a bent pulley

As you can see from the pics its not straight any more can it be straightened ? Or are these standard and not much money ?

I was just about to ask admins if I can do a multi listing of pulleys. I have too much junk in the shed.

You'd be best off with a taperlock pulley and bush.

Measure shaft diameter, pulley diameter and what sort of belt, usually an 'A' style v belt

You probably could skim it till it's true again on the lathe but a taper lock would be best as has been said.

If it is for an 'A' section belt the V should be around 13mm at widest part.

Looks extremely bent and I would suggest its unlikely to be just the pulley, is the motor/shaft bent? Has it been dropped and landed on the pulley from a height?

The motor doesnt look to great from the pics..

its quite bent the pully and i realy dont know why its been in my garage for a few months now and as far as i can remember nothing has hit it infact its been attached to the frame and pump for most of it

only thing happened is a parts box went down a couplke weeks ago but im quite sure it never went in that direction

im assuming only way to see if the shaft is ok is remove the pulley and spin it ?

Pull the pulley (with a puller, if you have one).

Spin the motor, as you suggest. Check for runout. It will be obvious.

Post the pulley diameter and bore/spindle diameter. I'm sure it's an a-section pulley just looking at the photo.

Just buy another pulley this one seems to have lasted a fair while.

Measure the shaft and OD, the pulley just needs to be close in size no need to overthink it.

It could be that the pulley is not seated properly if someone tried to remove it before or didnt refit it properly. I really cant see it being bent that much without proper abuse

ive just removed it put on a flatish surface and its got a kink bigger than me

I've now run the motor got a vid but hassle to post on YouTube and post but looks good to me

24mm shaft with an 8mm key...standard size and a pulley will be easily got from the pigbay

If that motor has a 24mm shaft, it should be driving twin belts, not just a single ‘A’ section pulley. I would expect it is likely a 2HP motor minimum..

I will cheak the motor but I know the compresser and where it came from and only ever had a 1 belt system on it

i have had a 3 horse motor with a 24mm shaft on my comp for 15 years running a single belt, never slipped or needed tightening once.

mine is a twin belt comp 14cfm pump and 3hp motor just run it on one belt and it dont slip

Those 5 step pulleys - depending on size I would like 1 or 2 please - might fit my Elliott Progress.
