Looking at the advert it doesn't seem to be set in the UK. This allows the manufacturer to move another step back from the legality of the feature's use in this country. I also heartily endorse the comments re electric scooters.

To be honest looking at the state of some of the parking attempts I see, cars that park themselves can't come quick enough.

And if the idiot behind the wheel doesn't need to be in the car whilst it's in the parking space then it might stop them bashing all the other cars with their door whilst they try to squeeze their backside out of the car.

Not currently legal - on public roads.
'Legal' on private land - dubious if a public carpark is 'private' in that context.
If it were private land then insurance would not cover its use.

Dubious practice by VAG. Not illegal to sell a vehicle that has the capability. Just illegal for the customer to use it! Much like all those Chinese electric scooters infesting certain parts of town.

They are only legal on private land .... Or do you mean the sale of them should be banned
