That job is worthy of anything from £400 to £600. Make sure they fully remove the old mortar bed and tiles,if its exposed to the wind (west or south west) then the tiles must be clipped or mechanically fixed to the batton (nails or screws). Try find a roofer that you or someone else knows there work quality before playing "blind darts" from the local rag or internet. Thanks to everyone for the input, been a busy few days so this has been on the back burner but I'm keen to get it done before the winter months as it has been on the to do list for a while having spotted the hole from the ground some time ago.
I think I'll take the advice given and steer clear of the plastic edging and get a roofer to lift and re-lay with fresh mortar, and in all honesty I wasn't keen on working at the top of the ladder anyway
@roofman what ball park figure should quotes for this be, just to give me an idea? I'm in Lancashire, not far from Preston, if area makes much difference.
and dont fall for the ones that have all fancy sign written vans showing dry verge roofs calling themselves upvc fitters and roofers national and local; That job is worthy of anything from £400 to £600. Your not really embracing winter......Don't have one of those anymore, nor any place to keep a skidoo....
Thanks for the idea of cost. There is a roofer in town that has a good reputation and has done some work for me on a house years ago that I was happy with so I've asked him to give a quote. The edge faces NW but they've installed the metal clips to each tile/batton originally anyway. Thanks for the advise it's appreciatedThat job is worthy of anything from £400 to £600.
