Got a bnib V+ Box HD here. No contract etc. I presume it's a Virgin thing?

Are these of any use with a normal aerial and no subscription?

Plug it into the power & tv aerial & see.

If you decide to scrap it remove the internal hard drive first, might be useful to repair another box.

It may well have. It's what is known as an EE link. Give it a try and find out for yourself.

It probably has an internal tuner for recording off-air too, as it's dated 2008 it'll probably receive digital terrestrial TV?

In earlier times, it would take in the aerial signal and mix it with the analogue modulated output of the box for onward display at UHF. Later with the advent of digital, the modulator was dropped but the socket and plug remain as a through link, serving little useful purpose. It will certainly not have a digital modulator.

Virgin are extremely protective of their monopoly and will sometimes hijack existing satellite wiring during an install, so the chances of that box having a DVB tuner is zero to none.
