That was probably a Tube Web Spider. The most likely spider to be bitten by here in the UK They are common here.I dont believe there are any native spiders that have long enough Fangs to puncture Human skin, they do however have enough Venom. I did read somewhere there is a spider that has come over from mainland europe that has long enough fangs but not the venon. It has been suggested if they were to cross breed then... we may have a problem.
(I was bitten on my leg by something a few yrs ago, as I got out of bed. Very hot, but was gone in a few hours

same here. Biggest Ive seen was in by a pool (Cyprus) mentioned it pool side, 'Oh they are ok'. No you need to come look at this one. Turned out to be some type of Tarantula. It was bigger than my mates Pink Knee and that thing covered his handDon't think I've ever seen one that measured 10" up here, must be too cold for them to survive.![]()
