Bearing identification

In another thread about a bridgeport j head I need to replace the bearings that fit the bearing carrier.
But don't wish to pay "bridgeport tax"

These bearings say england but the code is only a short code. There may be someone who has already sourced 3rd party bearing for their own bridgeport so I am posting a separate thread.

I have dropped by their counter a few times to get bridgeport (and bridgy copies) parts for friends.

Measure the bearing/take bearing/ring up/visit local bearing stockist - if you don't have one, I recommend any of Spen Bearings locations as somewhere to ring and ask.

Local Bearing stockist could not find it from the code. Although I thought it was LU as they designated. Single sided seal.
But Brad pointed out it looks like LJ imperial

However it measures 72 x 35 x 17.l9cal bearing stockist Midland Bearings said they have a min order for cash sales of 25 quid. And as Bearing boys had them listed at 7.40
I would be better going there.
However I would prefer SKF or FAG as opposed to the budget ones Dunlop.

Bearing. Boys have a branch closer to me though..lol

Is it an R&M bearing?

Have you got a photo of the whole bearing?
If it's a deep groove then it's a 6207

Yep you were correct. 6207 all fitted and just waiting for 4 springs.
It only had one when I took it apart. Two were rolling around in the pulley stack. And 1 was missing.

Also the aluminium housing was catching on the bearing carrier so I honed it by gluing some wet and dry into some aluminium tube. Running the lathe as slow as it goes and linished/ honed the inside.

It falls back everytime now. Even without springs.

I suggested that to Bearing boys in lye store.
They are nationwide but mostly mail order.
They suggested it was not imperial designation. I only asked as it measured up as metric.

They did say that the D was "deviates" from standard.

Anyway I got a couple of SKF for 27 quid.

Going round in circles. I Already said it was a metric 6207.

yes you certainly did. \but the old one had marking which suggested otherwise..

|On the same subject bridgeport. The part with the most slop in it seems to be the spindle or the lower dog drive shaft. Not sure it matters just got to fit the 4 new springs... Thanks for your assistance..

Yeah the splines get excessive wear over time, can be problematic on interrupted cuts. Nothing you can do except replace male splined spindle and female splined clutch
