I'm looking to buy a panel beating kit in particular the one with the fiber glass handle on ebay and was wondering are these durable?, or do they have a tendency to break?
I'd be more concerned about the durability of the working faces than the hammer shafts. Once those are marked they transfer the marks to every piece of work you do. I suspect they'll be softer than proper professional kit. If you are careful and only use them occasionally you shouldn't have a problem.
Keep them well protected from rust too. Can't see them being high grade iron so will probably rust easily again ruining the working face.

I bought a set that looks extremely similar to the second ones posted. Mine had hickory shafts and were bought from my local motor factors. The tools themselves are perfectly good.
Casting on the dollies is not amazing however the working surfaces have been machined smooth so no problems there.
My hickory shafts came away from the heads after about 3 days of use.. what a bummer.. however after a bit of DIY they are back up and running and have had loads of use.
My main piece of advise would be that having the tool doesnt mean you can do the repair. Stretching and shrinking metal with a hammer and dollie is an art and I ******ed up big style, even after watching youtube videos for a week or so.
I've had an ordinary hammer with a fibreglass shaft for over 30 years and the handle is still perfectly alright. It's been dropped off the roof a couple of times and generally abused so it has been thoroughly tested.
I got a cheap set with yellow glass handles, the heads are very soft and the faces and dollies as they came were pretty comical. They sort of do a job, although I'm constantly refacing them. They're identical to that wooden handles set ^ bar mine being 'glass.
Fibreglass handles are good, ive never managed to break one yet.
The two hammers i use day in day out are both fibreglass. You get used to the shock absorbing, going back to wooden handles is hard work.
One is a cheapy brand, roughneck iirc, 48oz, thats about5 years old, other is a 16oz bluepoint one. thats about 9/10 years old, both handles solid and not loosened.
