Chances are that if the scrotes were interrupted, one or more modules will be in an inconsistent state, the solution is usually to apply an 'engineering patch' to put the modules into bootloader mode one at a time to allow the modules to be initialised as if new. That takes time and costs the dealer a support fee, which has to be passed on.

This is one of the reasons I'm thinking about going back to the 80s for next car...

If it's a Rover V8 the ECUs for those fall over a lot due to age...

In case anyone is not aware, 40+ year old cars are classed as some sort of historic vehicle and ULEZ exempt.

Yea but I believe that's entirely at the good graces of the mayor...so the exemption could easily be removed in future.

I caved and bought an EV 2 weeks ago ...I decided there was too much of a risk of them turning parts of London into zero emission zones to risk getting a PHEV.
