LED bulbs failing

I put new matching lights up in a number of rooms. Different lighting circuits. I replaced all of the bulbs at the same time with the same type of warm white led bulbs made by a company called Saxby. About a week ago a couple of them started to flicker and then intermittently go on and off. I was initially worried about a wiring fault but they were doing this on different circuits. If I moved the bulb, the fault followed the bulb. So i replaced them with some I had left over of the same make. Now these are going too.

Is this just crappy led bulbs? Or could there be another cause? I tried some of the failing ones in another house and they are still flickering and intermittently coming on and off.

Whats broken here? They have lasted just over 12 months.

a lousy batch change the make .i get 2 year warranty on the ones i use and rarely get any faulty. i use aurora enlite . fit hundreds of them

Thanks. I started worrying it was a wiring fault. I will get my money back on these somehow. Annoys me that they arent cheap to buy, last nowhere near the stated time and then its a fight to get a refund.

Do aurora enlite do e27 bulbs? (Thats what these were). They look like they only do gu10 type stuff.

Versus all your life on a ladder and chucking tonnes of electronics in landfill.

And a proper manufactured holder will last fifty years.

Don't get me started, one of my pet hates is the stated life which they never achieve, it's the CFL lamp all over again

I've fitted a fair few "normal" headlights to motorcycles where the OEM LED unit has started playing up. The time taken to fit complete housing and re-wire to cope with higher current draw was worth the effort.

Some makes seem more robust than others..

For home use I would have thought Osram would be a good bet, have a decent reputation to keep.

you obviously havent been replacing burnt out gu10 recessed lights that have got that hot the plasterboard has all; crumbled and is impossible to fit new ones without cutting the plasterboard back and and re patching up .you had to fit fire rated hoods to them at great cost as they were setting fire to houses and burning out

So what a GOOD brand of LED E27 bulbs to buy? I need stuff that does proper warm white - like 2700k type level. I absolutely hate white and blue light.

Cheap ones from amazon we find don't last...we have 2 lights with 30ish bulbs in each....constantly changing them.

In the kitchen we bought an expensive Phillips bulb....thats been going strong for around 10 years I think!

to me the manufactorer is at fault for not testing these properly gu10 spotlights should have been known they become hot just like the spot lights outside did

there was no warnings on the boxes that those units become very hot and can cause issues

thats why building regs insisted on fitting fire hoods to them at 10 quid a pop .

About the only ones that I’m aware of that seem to get universally rated are IKEA, pretty much everything else, even from the name brands is a lottery at best, or seemingly more so, utter garbage.

Manufactures have cottoned on to the fact that instead of selling you a new lightbulb every 1000 hours for £2 they can sell you an entire new LED light every 200 hours for a tenner – and it gets the green seal of approval.
It is rarely the LED chips that fail, the rest of the electronics are not designed to last. They can be, but they aren't.

its called been economical with the truth . ive had the odd punter whinge at me about the short life of led bulbs that they have supplied and i fitted i just say i just fit em and dont make the bloody things so take it up with the supplier
