What lawnmower ?

Hi folks, my brother is a self employed gardener, mainly grass cutting and strimming residential gardens over the summer. His first couple of Lawnmowers were Honda Izzy's, the first one was great, second not as well built and had a few failures. He decided on a whim to buy an electric start Hyundai. I was welding a wheel axle back on for the second time last night on his under 5 month old mower that's obviously designed for home use. The Hyundai does have much faster speeds than his Izzy so does jobs quicker.

So am fed up keeping on top of poor kit, what do folk recommended for a full time gardener doing smaller gardens?

Nearest dealer to us is Stihl, would be nice to get something that I could quickly and easily get parts for.

I run a John Deere JS63 (fixed wheel). Brilliant mower and spares support is excellent, parts are next day at the dealer if they don't have them in stock.

Unless you have one that won't start in which case it just takes up space until I can get around to looking at it properly

I stripped and cleaned the carb, drained and refilled with new fuel, new battery. Last thing I read was that it could have broken a key if the blade hit something hard and the timing could now be off but I don't think I found a way of checking the timing

There were too many other jobs in the queue so I bought a new cheap mountfield and used that until the honda gets to the front of the queue. It might have to be soon as the cheap mower is now just about worn out

battery , wow yours must be one of those modern ones..mines probably 25 years plus

Quickest way to check the timing's to pop the flywheel off and see whether the Woodruffe ke'y sheared, or it is on the Mountfield (Briggs & Stratton motor) my sister donated to me - I'd hit something hard...

Honda izzy is a domestic mower designed for domestic ie once a week use. If you want all day everyday, there are far more expensive honda alternatives. But Husquava if I were using everyday!
