quite a few years ago i had problems sleeping since a job change near 2 years ago a lot more heavy work than before (i do enjoy the heavy work i feel like i do something in a day so thats not a problem)
on nights that i got to work i mostly sleep well with a now and again i get up 10 20 30 mins before the alarm
its on a weekend im having problems some times going to bed at 1.30 after watching a film etc and end up getting up at 4,30 5,30 so only a few hours sleep last night went to bed at 10,30 as we are going out and was hoping for a good night but was awake at 3,15 and ended getting up at 4 as got fed up with rolling around trying to gert back to sleep
im not tired and dont seam to be during the weekends but come sunday im a bed early so im ok for work early monday morning
any one else get this only seams to have started a year ish ago as when i first started the new job i was happly going to bed at 1 ish getting up 7 to 8,30 on a week end
I generally grab 4.5/5 hrs sleep a night, sometimes I also have a nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon when I'm knackered, but that's the perks of semi-retirement.....I dont mind thr 4 hours but at thr end of the weekend I am knackard and want my bed quite early on the sunday night even as early as 8pm I've done a few times most 9 ish
10 I would call normal ish depending on what time your up
Sleeping twice a day is actually quite a healthy way to live. Siesta time, works for me. When I was at sea we used to do 4 on 8 off, never felt tired back then, maybe I was just young, but always seemed to be quality rest.I generally grab 4.5/5 hrs sleep a night, sometimes I also have a nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon when I'm knackered, but that's the perks of semi-retirement.....
I am so envious of people who can napI generally grab 4.5/5 hrs sleep a night, sometimes I also have a nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon when I'm knackered, but that's the perks of semi-retirement.....
i dont feel tired untill sunday night thats when it hits me at about 5 6 pm jast after late dinner sunday roast at about 5 i sit down and im near ready for bedI think the key point here is whether you feel tired. You say you don't so, although it's interesting to try to spot changes that can affect this, if you're not tired then there is almost certainly no problem.
Some people (and I'm definitely not one of them!) can survive and thrive on just a few hours sleep a night. Margaret Thatcher may not be one of your heroes (!) but she famously ran the country on four hours sleep a night.
I think it's healthy that you can spot when the game is lost and get up. I honestly wouldn't try to analyse or "fix" it if you're not feeling tired during the day. People, psyches and bodies change as they age - most likely it's just one of these things.

yea im gettting a little older but not ready for afternoon naps as yet got to much on every daySleeping twice a day is actually quite a healthy way to live. Siesta time, works for me. coffee is a morning and afternoon thing for me on a night sqush with ice is my go to and a 1 or 2 cansStay off the caffeine and try a magnesium supplement.
Yeah, but how often did you ever see her looking happyMargaret Thatcher may not be one of your heroes (!) but she famously ran the country on four hours sleep a night.
I started the afternoon nap thing when working early shift, I got home knackered so had an hour doze, even though I'm retired now I still have a "power nap" mid afternoon.I generally grab 4.5/5 hrs sleep a night, sometimes I also have a nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon when I'm knackered, but that's the perks of semi-retirement.....
Got a new phone recently, it's got a feature called "digital wellbeing tools" - includes a bedtime coughing and snoring monitor which is quite interesting (!).
They're always listening, haha, yep, its a bit creepy but I've had it active 11pm to 7am for the last few weeks as I had a throat cold -lots of daytime coughing and it felt like nights were disrupted too.
Here's a screenshot from a few weeks ago at its worst...

So coughing has almost gone, but the snoring is about the same, with lots of the usual toilet breaksand I assume I'm asleep the rest of the "blanks" times as I can't remember being awake that many times.
Very rarely get through a night with uninterrupted sleep but just nod off again pretty quick, same as some mid-afternoons if I have a big piece of cake, or mid-evening if I'm watching a Midsummer Murders episode (never know whats going on there).
I wouldn't worry about it, if your body/mind is tided it will sleep at any given opportunity - just be calm and relaxed and think through your next project in any unexpected awake times, saves time during the day![]()
Tis the brain that keeps you awake, not the body……….look to whats bothering you, not switching off is a form of stress.I had another no / very little sleep last nigh, just couldn't switch off.
Been working all day as well so thought I'd tired myself out but unfortunately not..
..and what affliction did she come down with later on ?Margaret Thatcher may not be one of your heroes (!) but she famously ran the country on four hours sleep a night.
