I was cutting stuff on my Kingsland 40 today and midway through the job the ram seemed to get stuck and won't retract. I've tried tapping it and levering it while operating it but no joy. I've now blown a couple of fuses in it so will have to get them tomorrow before I get back at it. Any thoughts or ideas welcome thanks

It might have gauled and picked up between the moving jaw and side cheeks
The hydraulic ram cannot move it so if there are no obstructions I’d loosen bolts holding halves together
I can’t see failure of the hydraulic ram or systems though I’d disconnect pipes from the ram to see if it is a hydraulic lock

Can you disconnect the ram from the moving part?, if the ram will then retract under power it proves the controls/hydraulics are working and it's most likely a mechanical jam.

You-would-think....that the relief valve would blow off, and not overload the motor
to the point of fuses blowing.

The 2 amp glass ones
If it is
one of your coils on the solenoid block is gone and blowing the fuse
Take the coils off and swap them around
It might retract then
Any local hydraulic shop should have a spare coil for you
They’re not that expensive

Been a while since I've needed to poke about in one, you can manually actuate the solenoids by poking the end with a screwdriver can't you?

Fu3 is the coils fuse
You can actuate with a screwdriver to try it
Put an ohm meter on the coil between the two small poles
it should be around 17/18 ohms
My bad one was 12.6 enough to keep blowing the fuse and stopping the machine
The new one is 18.4

Fu3 is only meant to be 2.0a glass fuse

Actual product knowledge is the key!
Without hearing the pump
I think some of us assumed the pump was going under load like a mechanical failure but it’s just not being actuated
